Hello lovely people. Yesterday evening at 9:00 The bearing change was completed. So as it would have to be tested, I and a friend(Jacob) started programe Q. (slow spin). I then closed the door and there was a bang from the PCB area and there was a flash of light from in between the dial and the programme guide. All lights remained on. Shocked we all went away from it. Afterwards I took the front panel off. there was no marks on the board. After rewatching the video I saw the light flash. Please could you experts help me. Also there was no water in the machine at the time of testing. Please view the video in the link below to see what happened. read the discription to grasp what happend. Thank you. Christopher.

My first guess would be...

That the door lock has failed. These are usually the symptoms, if you are lucky the PCB may not have been damaged. Hopefully an interlock is not too hard to find, pretty much a copy of what was in the later WM models. Speaking of WM's I just got a lovely little WM12 like yours yesterday :)

I was supprised to see in your previous post when dismantling the machine that you took the pcb out, did you take carefull note where all the plastic connection plugs went back?. I normally spend ten minuites drawing writting down, photographing and labelling the correct positions the edge connectors go before removing a pcb.

Sorry but in my opinion one of the key coded plugs has gone in the incorrect place.

Either way its new pcb time!.

(I dont think its the interlock as when they go they go instantainously when the door locks, if you do get another the wma interlocks are not the same as the wm range and not interchangable).

BANG!

Goes the machine...

I have seen the video - My youtube user is Hotpointwml540 - named after my machine. Anyway, I have posted a comment on it, and i think it needs a new pcb and motor.

Hi HenryPeter,

yes a very good point and a likely scenario the motor plug can be put in the incorrect way around which will blow the pcb when the drum rotates.

Have to say this is unlikely to damage the motor though.

Update

hotpointfan's profile picture
Watching it back, it is a bit shocking as for a week we were trying to figure out what was wrong.
So thanks to everyone for ideas, and also on YouTube comments.

The WMA22P's motor is being checked today by Christopher and his dad, as his dad has a 95 series motor they are going to try to fit in, if it is the motor.

If it is the PCB, Christopher and his dad are going to make there own PCB for it.

Best wishes

hotpointfan

Confirmed

It has just been confirmed that the PCB on aquarius8000's WMA22P is the problem, not the motor.

So he will be building (with his dad!) his own PCB.

Best wishes

Right, here is an update. I removed the motor from the washer and made some connectors and switched it on at the mains. And guess what, It has life! So I will be building my own PCB on it(using an arduino uno board)with different cycles. And the PCB is...well dead!

PCB??

Good luck on the PCB!! - Shame I am not around southampton. Anyway, Yes you can do a good job on your own cycles, have you made a chip diagram yet? Would love to see it!

Henry.
