Hi Rob! And everyone! Nice to be back online again! I'm in Australia ATM (Perth) so, my laptop seemed to not want to configure itself with Australia's WiFi. Anyway I was just looking through some of the old threads on here and I came across the "Washing on TV" thread that was posted about 2/3 years ago and I realised just some of the classic washers seen and/or heard in these soaps, films etc.
But the one scene/film I want to find is... Aquarius1984 mentioned something about a film/tv show named "BOB AND SUE" or something which had a scene of an old 80s Hotpoint distributing and going into spin and mentioned that the camera was actually panned at the washer's door so it was an "odd" scene. Tried looking on the internet, cannot find anything so far. It'd be great if someone could find this film/tv show, I think Rob will know what I mean, if not, I'll send the link to the thread. Also, it'd be great to see other scenes of TV Washing Machines! One scene I looked at was a Hinge & Bracket scene where there is a round door Bendix/Philco washer jumping about and they have to hold it down (or is it an old Creda Debonair/Micron series?). Thanks very much, Brandon |

Hope you are having a blast in OZ. The Hinge and Bracket scene you are reffering to features a Caravelle machine, see link to thread

Hi Paul! I see, now I understand why I go it confused with a Bendix/Philco.
Matt, do you know Singleton and Madora Bay? That's where I am at the moment and this thursday will be going to the Gold Coast (Brisbane), I heard about the tornado, my god the thunder was louder than what I expected. I love this houses around Perth. Brandon. |

Was that Caravelle Machine actually functioning or was it just the shell on wheels so that it could look like it was walking? Because when the scene changes from the woman on the phone, you see (Hilda?) Holding the machine and as far as I can see, the washer isn't spinning, just the reflection of the floor in the glass door as the washer shakes.
Also the washer is shaking far too much to be functioning, as when (Hilda?) goes to put the pipe out of the window, the other woman holding the machine is clearly moving it about, also it looks too light and small to be a proper machine with a drum, but do feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, I may just be seeing things! I'm battening down the hatches, the last storm caught me by surprise so i wasn't prepared but now I am. 10,000 homes without power, hardly any traffic lights, thankgod I still have power and no damage around my place. Scary stuff when an F1 tornado touches down 10 kilometres from where I work in the middle of suburbia and destroys some shops..... |

Be safe...as someone who lives at the far northern end of the USA's "Tornado Alley" I know how scary an F0 can be! Let alone the monsters at the other end of the scale! -my thoughts to those who are beginning to rebuild! |

Hi Matt! Yeah, at the moment the wind is battering my house, i don't know if you saw the lightning show earlier, 4 flashes at once and Singleton is sort of flooding! I heard about that tornado, I was worried it'd come to Singleton!!!!
Thought I saw "glimpses" of a tornado forming, but was just the look of the clouds, apparently right now (12AM/Midnight) until 02:00AM, this is going to be the worst of the Cyclone. Already had half of our fence torn off and it was concrete fence. I hope the power won't go down again, can't stand that! washerman, I've never seen a tornado, although it may say crazy, I'd actually love to visit "Tornado Alley". People say though that the sirens (warning sirens) are scarier than the tornado itself. Well, some sirens are quite frightening! Here in Singleton, W.A., the wind is REALLY picking up, I'm surprised the power is still running!!!! Brandon. |
