Tom is one 100% correct on the Isis brand. Electra is back courtesy of Vestel too, as will be he Servis brand name. They picked up a few brands from the Antonio merloni dissection, including Newpol. This is the first time Vestel have handled their own brand names.

It's a pity...

...that there are no images...

Won't be long, they are probably based on the Doris (yes this is what Vestel call them) cabinet & fascia. If you see the Russell hobbs (Lares), Next Catalogue models (Marylin & Lares)and Swan models (Solaris), Bush (Olympus) you will see the different varieties they churn out.

The White Knight machine.

I'm sure someone will be able to identify the origin of this.

Saw one in person in a discount shop. Cheaply made, (aren't they all LOL), the soap tray only came out a few inches.

Best Wishes

Yep vestel again wk1200 wk1400 wv1200 and wk1400. Also the matsui mgw145. Sovereign shl10007 shl12007. There are at least 90 models from vestel in the uk at my last count, all under various guises.

You know those hortible dishwashers in currys that break quickly, they made them :-(

Post# 603374 , Reply# 20   6/13/2012 at 17:03 (4,332 days old) by andyvivo (Essex)

They, IE Haier, Midea, & wuxi little swan all have Indesit to thank, for a terrible design of product made worse. Indesit licensed these dishwashers to wuxi, midea & haier, plus the old Ariston washing machine design solely to Haier.

Haier & Midea have exactly the same base product. Obviously as time has passed they have evolved and morphed. But fundamentally still poor. I think Wuxi has been totally absorbed into Indesit, the factory has since been responsible for the slimline hotties and indies we have here.

Essentials C510WM11

Is 100% Midea, so the WK washers (and Servis) are also Midea =/ (gets on knees to Tom and begs for forgivenss lol) What I am still perplexed about is the servis in Ireland. I wonder if Vestel cannot have the license of the Servis brand in Ireland? or is Vestel having a fling with Midea?

While we're on the subject......

Hi guys

Been reading this with interest as i'd also spotted some unfamilar names appearing on Comet's website. Shame that the White Knight washers look to be made by a poor company, as i suspect some loyal White Knight dryer customers may try these. If they don't maintain the fairly decent offering of White Knights dryers people may stop buying the dryers too. Hopefully as they look so basic people will avoid them - don't want our only British made laundry appliances (the dryers) to run into trouble!

However, while we're on the subject of those 'horrible dishwashers in currys', do we mean ones like the one in the link below? My Gran has owned one like this (badged Matsui) for around 3 years & it seems to work well. It's actually lived for double the amount of time of her previous Bosch Classixx. I was horrified when i saw what she'd bought but it's proven me wrong. So would this be a Midea? I thought it was Hoover underneath because Hoover's slimline offering of the time (plus Kenwoods') had identical cabinets, bases & LED layouts. Maybe Hoover did a deal with Midea?

Any info greatly received!

Thanks
Liam

Interesting.....

Just discovered the page linked below that seems to think White Knight's 2012 washer offerings are made by Vestel.

Seems odd because some of the info on the UK White Goods site is abit out of date for various manufacturers but the White Knight section has new info, including that about links to Vestel :-/

Dishwashers

Hi Liam

Afaik Candy have been buying Chinese dw's for the entry level machines. From what I have been told with failure on these it can be about what detergent is used, ie seperate rinse aid or the combi action tabs.

Regards Andy

Do you advocate seperates, i.e powder, salt rinse aid or those 500, 0000 in one non eco friendly packaging tabs??

Post# 603718 , Reply# 26   6/15/2012 at 05:14 (4,330 days old) by chris74 ()
Essentials DW

Looks like the one's sold in Germany under the brand name "exquisit". Very cheaply made...

Post# 603723 , Reply# 27   6/15/2012 at 05:29 (4,330 days old) by andyvivo (Essex)
Personally

I prefer seperates, and generally Finish.
I can't see how the rinse aid action can last through the rinse, after the main wash into the hot rinse. Perhaps there is an answer, but I don't know on this one.

With the salt action in the tabs, it does soften the water that is circulated, but totally misses the salt pot. I have seen in some cases the salt unit crystals clump, because they have not been cleansed with the brine. Ultimatly the machine cannot fill and the salt unit has to be replaced.

Apparently some of the chinese machines foam up with the 3in1's, could be user error perhaps by having rinse aid in their too?

Totally Agree

and always add a few grains to any door to provide adequate action for the pre-wash!!

those ex, matsui and currys essential dishwashers arent briliant, my sisters currys essentilas dishwasher blew up not too long ago, smoke, strange noises a burning odour the works. i wouldnt touch one tbh, im not normally a brand snob but the haier dishwashers which use the same interior and materials seem better made imo

Thanks Andy

So it seems basic Hoover/Candy dishwashers are infact Midea, rather than Matsui/Essentials being Hoover/Candy?!!

The Hoover machine i'm referring to which looks similar (around the base of the cabinet at least) to the Matsui my Gran has is in the link below. The Kenwood one that looked even more similar to the Matsui/Essentials offering is no longer on the Currys website. As i said, i was pretty horrified when i found out Gran had bought it, but since her fairly pricey Bosch lasted all of 18 months-2 years, there wasn't much i could say! It's outlived said Bosch, anyway. Though i do believe she uses powder detergent & i'm pretty certain everything is seperate (ie salt in the salt dispenser). I think it's only ever used on the 50c Eco program, too.

Would be interesting to find out for sure who makes the White Knight washer. Are we pretty certain it's Midea, and that the UK White Goods website could be wrong in saying Vestel?

Liam

We had a Matsui built in dishwasher installed in our new office. It was AWFUL, the wheels on the runners kept falling off and the repair man was called 3 times in a month. In the end it went back to the supplier and a Hotpoint built in was installed. Not a bad D/W and no call outs in two years. It is on at least twice a day catering for staff from 3 dept's ( roughly 60 staff ).

Don't Worry!

Don't worry, i won't be buying one! I think it's been more a case of luck that my Gran's dishwasher has lasted as long as it has, rather than anything to do with the quality of it!

If it was my money i'd probably have to grin & bear the top rack design & go for a Zanussi, or if i was feeling like really budgetting, i'd give a Beko a whirl, seen as they appear better lasting than their laundry appliances.

That said, Hotpoint's diswashers seem to be more reliable/better lasting than their washing machines too - my Auntie's one is at least 5 years old & has been faultless, despite being used at least once a day.
