I am now watching a house with 5 dogs in Hilo. This place was a a mess when I got here but now is back in order. All the bedrooms had trash and dirty clothes all around and dust along with some doggie dont's.The disposer was complete wrong in the way it had been installed and the 18" dishwasher did not work at all.The refrigerator ( top mount Amana 18 )had ice built up in the upper right rear top shelf and cakes of dirt and dust all caked on to the base. The washer was out on the back patio and was all rusted out.The lid,the base, the sides and controls were barely holding on.I went to see Charley at his store, Smith's Trade, and he owed me a few favors. As we were having a pizza we ordered, the truck from HD came with 7 different pieces to drop off. One was a Whirlpool Duet with the new feature that blows air on the clothes as they tumble after the final spin. They claim this keeps them from souring when left a few hours. I hooked it up and it ran fine!!! I have no idea why anyone threw this bad boy away but I got it and the riser as well.Another item is an Amana 22 bottom freezer unit that had a loose wire and wouldn't come on.Charley gave me both and I asked if he'd deliver them today because Wednesday I was too busy getting 47 30 gal. garbage bags full of junk, trash and rotten food. I sanded the wood floors and refinished them with pollyeurethane, used boiling hot water to thoroughly scrub the shit out of the kitchen and bathroom floors, scrubbed down all the walls and woodwork, bleached, sanitized and scrubbed all 3 bathrooms, stripped and threw away all the nasty bed clothes, had all 5 dogs dipped and groomed, re connected the disposer, washed all the windows and mowed the lawns. My friends have no idea I did anything but watch and feed their dogs. When they return, They'll probably drive right by a few times before they realize this is their house. They'll be returning next Saturday from Washington.By the way, the washer is model#WFW9150.Can't wait to see their reaction when they return. the wife,Gretchen, is the head nurse where I was hospitalized last Winter and would come and talk trash to me for hours. Making me laugh and help to ease the fear and pain I went through. When I was being discharged, she left me her name and phon # and told me to come visit. She's my age and has two young children, a nice husband and is a true hippie from the 60's.Even has a 1966 VW bus in mint green to prove it.

That is totally awesome of you to do. I just hope they really appreciate all the hard work you put in for them. I'm just sorry to hear of the condition they left their house in for you to inhabit to watch their dogs. Whenever I house sit for a friend they always leave it clean for me. Or if it is dirty, it's nothing at all like what you were in. If anything just a quick vacuuming and run a load of dishes in the dishwasher. And even then they tell me not to worry about it, but if I get bored enough, I'll have that done and usually a meal ready for when they return. I just hope they show you some kind of gratitude when they return!
