They have indeed, myself and Marc got it (at a bargain price too!).

I'm sure it will make a prized part of our (albeit small) collection consisting of a Hotpoint 9530, Hoover Logic 1300 A3636 (current daily driver) and soon this.

Will be interesting to see what programming and performance differences there are between this and our 9530!

Matt

Hotpoint?

Ho NO, its gone. Ho Well, unfortunatly most ebay bits listed on this website is 90 miles away from me or maybe more!!!

Speaking of Vintage, I saw a Hotpoint 9966 Washer Dryer in British Heart Foundation, and that was my first vintage hotpoint I saw since someone in the house got rid of the WM64 we had...

If anyone Sees a Universal Motor Controller TDA1085C on Ebay with free postage, please let me know.

Henry.

Thank God, I’m pleased that it’s in safe hands; I was going to go for it but could not get an estimate from a courier in time. I am pleased for you and hope that you can post some pic’s.

Also, what was the best hotpoint from the WM, 95, and 18 Series? To me its the WM64, but unfortunatly someone sent it to the tip when i was young.

Yippeeeeeeee

Congrats to Matt and Marc on your new old machine.

Really pleased that you got it and that it will soon have a good retirement home.

The 9550A and W are rare machines, as they were on sale for just over a year - from March 85 through to June 86.

Side strips and lid strips are available as new parts still, though an all-round door bowl might be a case of asking a friendly repair shop to watch out for a scrap 95 or 93 dryer, though you could add a later angled door bowl as this will fit too.
Door bowl retaining clips are still available as new parts as well.

You might have to do some surgery on any replacement side or lid strips, as there were two different methods of fastening them to the machine. Either way, I generally dremmell off the the fastening lugs and blue-tak them on instead of permanently fastening them to the machine.
Allows you to remove them from the machine when moving it and also makes it more likely that they will pull off the machine intact, if accidentally caught, rather than cracking and breaking off instead.

Final snippet of info - the fascia! Just as brittle as any other 95, but with the added fun of button mounts that snap (remember the 9584X fascia, where I repaired and strenthened the button mountings, by wrapping them in plastic and super glue). Be gentle with those buttons - just enough pressure, or the buttons will finish up inside the fascia.

I lied ..... this is the '& finally'....
should the fancy take you to remove the fascia - unscrew around the powder drawer, then gently push the fascia to the right hand side of the machine. This disengages the two retaining catches on the back of the fascia, from the metal groove on the bodyshell of the machine.
Dont swing the fascia out from the left hand side, as this will stress the two brittle catches on the right hand side and they will break. If this happens you will have to tape the right hand side of the fascia to the machine, to hold it on.

Thats your lessons for today! lol :-)

You will have known it all already and sorry if it comes across as rather patronising, but just wanted to let you know the foibles in case you didnt.

Great machine and am really pleased that you have managed to take it on. Good Luck with the collection and let us all know how it goes.
Looking forward to the videos!

Cheers
Paul
p.s the way we are going, your microtronic will be re-energised before mine and Rob's. All power to you aswell :-)

Thanks guys

Pictures to come ASAP!

Thanks for the info Paul, really appreciate it! Good to know that the side/lid strips are still available, I didn't think we'd stand a chance of getting them!

As for the door glass, for the time being it might have to share the bowl on the 9530 and swap them over as and when, don't think I could live with having the sloped later glass in it.

Had assumed the fascia would be as fragile as other 95s if not more so, my heart is always in my throat whenever we have to move ours! Will be extra careful when pushing those buttons, thanks for the heads up!

Thanks again,

Matt

great news

congratulations Matt (hoover1100) for saving the machine from the scrapheap, especially as it's fully working.

How do Matt.

Was trying to remember last night about how i removed the fascia of the 95842.

I think I might have had to swing the left hand side of the fascia out by a millimetre or two, to enable me to get leverage on the control panel. Once you are able to get a grip on the left hand side, then push it to the right hand side of the machine and the two retaining lugs should disengage intact.

The right hand side of the fascia and this applies to Microprofiles as well, is held in place by two moulded protrusions on the back of the fascia, that are then slid behind a bent strip of metal on the bodywork of the machine.

Dont swing the fascia out at the left hand side too far, or you will snap both the right hand side retaining lugs.

Its difficult to explain, so have attached the link to the 95842 thread, which details what I had to do to make the fascia solid again. Also shows the metal strip at the far right of the machine.

Paul
