Hi All, normally when i post about this subject i do so in the delux form, however since this machine is now more than 20 years old it should be here.

As some of you may know i have been searching for information on a particular Ariston machine we had when i was a child, its taken me years to scrape together pieces of info about it and members on here have contributed allot as well.

however none of the images members posted matched my ariston, today as i normally do i typed into google image search 'Old Ariston Washing Machine' and within the first set of images i noticed one that causght my eye, i said right il go open it and see i doubt its the one we had tho.

anyways after the page opened i was temporarily in shock as the image i was looking at was the ariston we had. i couldnt belive it, i had set myself into beliving that my machine was a one of special and id never find anything on them but there it was in this image, the exact machine ive been searching for.

other members here posted machines very similar to what i was describing but none were the exact machine. and today i finally have a picture of it.

the machine itself was up for sale on gumtree in Burgess Hill, so there was no chance of me being able to get it, still im happy with a picture for now and hope that in the future il be lucky enough to come across one.

now the question is and im hoping members can help, What is the Model Number of this mysterious machine and if anyone has any more info on it now they can see the machine id really apprciate it.

and now here is the machine, which gave me hours of enjoyment when i was a child, its been 12 years since our one was sent to the dump and left a hole in my heart, im so happy to be able to see it in a picture after only having memories of it in my head to visit everytime i think of it (which is Every day!)

also, Apologies for the lengthy post i just felt i had to share this as its a really big deal for me :)

link is to the for sale ad on gumtree.

I am so pleased you have managed to find a pic of your much loved machine at last. I remember a friend had that model but with a brown fascia and door.

I bought my mum an Ariston machine in 1986/7 very similar but with brown fascia , two switches and a round door. I have never seen a picture of that model since.

Congratulations for finding the picture, I know you have been looking for it for quite a long time. Do you know the model number now too?

Perhaps you could contact the seller to ask what the model number is.

How exciting to find your childhhod model. Always cherished.

However, objectively this is by no means a dream machine. Don't let the romantic, nostalgic stuff take over.

I owned this machine. The first batch of these had significant door interlock issues as reported on Watchdog. They lacked 40 degree thermostats and relied on (unreliable) timed heats. Spinning cycles were time wasting and the motor was noisy (the old square Indesco motor with poor bearings). The door was poor fitting and often dripped on high fill levels. The fabric softner section of the drawer was combined with the bleach section - it all went down first rinae.

I am NOT raining on your parade - it means alot to you, just a reality check!

Nick

really?? our oen worked flawlessly for 8 years without issues. when i was 3 i broke the door lock, and the motor on ours was no where near as noisy as those found on machiens today, the bearings on ours where still fine when it broke, and it only broke because my mother let a knife fall on the door glass and it shattered.

i found this machine to be brilliant, in fact the best machine we have owned, and we are on our 5th machine since the Ariston, whether or not they were considerd good or not by others when they were on sale is irrelivant to me as i loved it.

however i take your experiance with it on board, like all models of machines some of them are good other's not so good, in every batch theres always a few dud machines.

you say you owned this machine, do you remember the model number or any other information about it? such as
Model Nr, year they started production or went on sale etc. any info would be great.

Luke.
