In warmer parts of Europe, like all countries on the Balkan peninsula, Italy, Spain etc washing machines sold until early 90s were usually 370-400 rpm. In 90s 500 and 600 rpm appeared, and only washer-dryers had higher spin speed - 800rpm. But there were washer/dryers with 600rpm sold too!
Some manufacturers, like Candy or Bosch here sold washers upto 800rpm, there was no way you could find higher, no matter in other countries they sold 1200 and even more.
Today, in Serbia, the best seller is a 600rpm machine, although Gorenje, Candy, Beko and Vestel made brands 400rpm machines were sold here until just a few years ago!
That is something from history, so on most machines. People usually wash their whites at 90 (today aswell), so the wash looked like this: main wash, cool down, 4 high water level rinses with intermit. spins (in the maximum speed available so 400-600rpm).
Now, if you select spin speed lower than 800rpm (which is the speed for intermit. spins) in my Candy GrandO Plus, it brightly adds muuuch more water to the rinse, as spin as a helper in the rinse cycle didn't do enough job as it should have. That in combination with Water+ button gives EXACT vintage wash.
Sudsy main wash, 4 high water level rinses, with 500 rpm spin after each, 8minute final spin.
That is the reason I've put it on the Imperial part of the forum - it is like the old soul in the young body
