Advice needed! My Insinkerator has been fine until it recently started leaking out the right front of the front door. Have determined that it is likely the Door Seal gasket. I have found that I can order this part for around $100. Is it worth it on a machine that is 18years old which is no longer manufactured? This is the first part to go wrong but other stuff is bound to follow...On the other hand it has worked just fine...?? Help. Also, confused by what I have read...Does this machine take KA parts? Model WSSUP-2 Thanks for any advice.

But Bob,

Is it still a KA (Whirlpool) clone?  I can't tell from the model number.

Ralph, at this stage of the game, even those are great compared to many other products.

I think GG's machine is newer than the one pictured in reply #5.  That's my machine, a model CLSUP-5 from the early 90's.

GG may be confused by searches he did here that produced threads discussing machines like mine, which are KA clones that still used most of Hobart's engineering.

I don't remember how things played out for ISE/Emerson once Whirlpool took full control of the KA dishwasher design and production, so can't say whether GG's machine is a KA (and hence Whirlpool) re-badge.

Insinkerator model

numbers are somewhat confusing for me.

This is my Classic Supreme model CL-Supreme.

1987-ish Kitchenaid 21 series I believe

That is a very Hobart Looking ISE DW

The styling on the front looks like a KD-20 series KA.

The gaskets are the same!

ISE was allowed to build and market the 20 and 21 series Kitchenaid dishwashers once the sale to Whirlpool was done. Whatever model matches yours, the door gaskets were the same so if you want to buy a new one and are sure it is the door gasket, go ahead and get it while you can.
The units with the push down handle was based on the 20 series and would have had a non reversing motor and a drain valve. The ones with the slide type door lock are 21 based and have the reversing motors and no drain valves.
Thje last machines they built which IIRC were the classic 3000 series were based on the Whirlpool updated 23 series which had the PowerModule wash pump in it.

BTW, the redesign of the door latch from the push down to the slide type cost ISE 250 grand to design and utilize!

Whirlpool design

Steve...do you remember when this model style was used?
I had a brochure that featured disposals and a small picture of dishwashers...
