I am pretty shocked, but I found these in some parts the old gentleman had from the appliance graveyard I posted about this past Winter. They are very pliable and seams look great!
I am hoping for some advise on installing the boot itself. I need to know how much of the boot itself is under the big o ring? I do not want to over work the boot so someone who has installed an original one is who I'm interested in coaching me. BTW it is for my L8 1955 westy.

Thanks in advance

Marty

Wow Marty, that is an amazing score to have found original Q4688 door boots!

I have literature on how to replace a door boot - not sure if it is down at the house in Ogden though. If I have it on the PC, I'll shoot you an email and if not, I'll scan it and get it to you next week.

I have done a 're-boot' twice now, but I cheated both times (I had the main tub apart). Getting that O-ring (called the 'Garter Ring') off from inside the tub does not look easy to do, though...

Oh, and if the gent happens to have a spare one... LOL

Boot

I'll take a few pictures when it's up and running. I sure thought someone with a spacemate would have said something about the boot by now..... I do not have one and my boot needs a mate!
