Notice at 5:16 that the coffee maker placed in the group of appliances does not look like the immersible one, but looks more like the oval stainless steel perk. We had the immersible one and for years washed it in the 15 series KA.

I remember these ads during the annual showing of Rudolph... but also perhaps even more memorable... the "Noelco" (Norelco) ads!

![]() Those commercials are really very nice. It makes me realize of how long ago 1964 really was and how perhaps as a teenager I didn't appreciate the moment...parents, relatives and friends all alive and well, not waking up in the morning and creaking like an old wooden ship, and the biggest worry you had was getting your homework assignments done. It's also interesting to note, at least in my opinion, how gift "tastes" change. I think that today many people would turn their nose up after unwrapping a can opener or an iron on Christmas morning. My older brother just bought his 2 year old granddaughter a new iPad...crazy in my opinion.

Ain't that the truth. Most people expect an Iphone, Ipad or Droid these days. As they would put it "something I could use and not have to pay for myself". I remember those black handled GE Steam irons. My mother had one, I had one I think those were umbitquitous until they lowered the max temp for irons. They were everywhere! Boy, GE really DID make almost everything in the way of appliances. We used to buy GE Christmas Tree lights until the mid 70's then we started to buy NONA lights. The quality of those wasn't the same a the GE's. Loved the shoe polisher. Especially what appears to be the father using one while dressed in a sweater, dress shirt & tie. But I guess the purpose of dressing him like that is to give a hint of wealth and the indication "this is what people who are well off use.".
