Is your servis a good built Washer? I Always thought that servis were one of these lower-end brands which aren't very popular. Also, I am hoping to get an Indesit WIB101 Washer Off Gumtree. |

Servis are a classic British brand. Until 1991, they were one of the best machines you could buy. They were also the first machines to be controlled by microchip rather than a mechanical timer.
They got into difficulty in the 1980's and were bought out by Merloni (Indesit) and have since been a budget brand. The early machines were not unreliable machines, but certainly not high performers. The 4 shallow drum paddles meant that anything less than a full load wouldn't tumble properly. Over time, Merloni cut more and more costs and Servis became more and more unreliable.
In 2008, the Servis brand went into liquidation and production ceased. Last year, it was announced that Vestel had bought both the Servis and Electra brands from Merloni, hence these new machines. |

AquaCycle, it wasnt indesit who bought Servis out, it was Antonio merloni, the other brother :) AM's later servis machines (like the ones with the huge silver doors) were ok, then they went bust. Tom |
