The company is Aspen Manufacturing. They list a lot of parts that can be hard to find, and the prices seem very reasonable to me. For example, if you needed a high limit thermostat for your DG806, you'd find it listed as "no longer available" everywhere you looked, unless you came across a seller with a few items of new old stock. And then, thinking they've got you over a barrel, they often want to charge far too much for them.

But at Aspen Manufacturing you can take your original Maytag part number, which in this case is 301451, and cross reference it to their replacement part number, which in this case is FL225, and purchase it for $4.88.

So the question is, has anyone dealt with this company before, or used any of their replacement thermostats? Are these parts the same quality as the OEM originals? I'm tempted to try them, but at the same time I'd rather not get burned(literally)by a poorly made inexpensive part. I'd love to hear your opinions on this.

Meh...

I just spent a few minutes throwing some part#'s in that website and it only seemed to recognize the newer or really common Maytag parts. It failed to even find the common 301636 cool down thermostat or a cross reference to an aftermarket one (for the DE/DG 750/606/806 models), which will easily cross reference to any aftermarket L120-10F thermo.

However, a quick search revealed a couple of genuine 301636 Maytag thermos on Ebay ;>)

We have been buying fast moving parts from them for several years and have found no problems. they sell a mix of Genuine and after market parts, and they give a 1 year warranty rather that the crappy 90 days that WP and Frigidaire give on Genuine parts.

AM may be a good choice for newer machines but of limited use for older machines, I am not surprised that they do not carry a cool down thermostat for MT dryers because dryers have not used these in any number for over 30 years and they almost never failed in the first place so there was never any big demand for this part. I can't remember ever replacing one.

I have bought some 279838 & 3387747 heater assemblies for W/P dryers, and a few of them failed after 3-5 months. Venting was fine in all cases. FSP OEM heaters from now on.

Uh, yes they do, but they failed to cross reference the part#. That was my point. *I* had to do the cross referencing.

I have already had to replace 2 of them in my little collection. The common "My dryer chimes but won't turn off" is a classic dead cool down thermo.

Nothing lasts forever, even in Maytag-ville.
