I am trying to take the flange and pump mount of of the dishwasher as there is a leak.. Do you need a special tool for the flange? Also are there any tricks to taking the main motor plate off? I want to replace all gaskets at once.

Thanks!

Martin

Horizontal motor I presume?

If you have the horizontal motor, you have to remove the pump intake off the motor that sticks into the tank and then the bolts that hold the motor to the tank. Then the motor will come out of the side of the tank. Nothing special needed, just rock it back and forth and up and down until the gasket breaks free.

You do know that you cant get those gaskets so unless you have the new ones,or are going to make your own. Have you tried to tighten the bolts to see if it stops leaking?

Help

Thanks for the reply!
I have removed the horizontal motor, but the mounting plates are stuck and I want to install new gaskets. This not a gravity drain model, if that helps.

Help

It would not break free with the backside of the motor in place, so I took it off and soaked it with penetrating oil overnight. To no avail as neither side would break free. I forgot to mention how rusted the iron parts were. The pump mounting studs broke off upon removal. That is the other reason I needed to remove the plate, so I could drill and tap the broken studs. I guess I need to get a bigger hammer..... Btw, I was wondering, is the tub flange threaded to the drain body? If not how is it attached?

Thank you for your help!

Marty

The Dreaded Cast Iron Parts.

Good Luck with those, when I needed a Drain Valve for my KD2-P stevet found one of the last 2 NIB @ Hobart. That was Not a cheap part but I'm glad I got it.

That KD2-P will probably outlast my KDS-18 and KDS-20.

However, Good luck finding what you need. Stevet will figure it out. (Right Steve ???)
