Hi,
Today I was at IKEA in Leeds buying some of their flat-pack furniture, and I saw a washing machine in the laundry department, the Renlig FWM7. It looks exactly like my Zanussi except it has some programs missing (Curtains, Mini 30) and replaced with cold cycles for cottons and synthetics. There is a Jetsystem but the buttons are a different shape, and all the options are in the same place. The thing is, I was wondering if this machine is made in the same factory as mine, as this machine has a drawer in the style of the Flexi Dose machines and a slightly smaller fabric softener compartment. The display also seems to have the time calculation light rather than the night wash light. Apart from that it is the same machine. I'm very impressed with it though for £400 and they even do it in black (why can't Zanussi make a machine in black?)

Electrolux or Whirlpool

Some years ago Ikea appliances were branded "For IKEA by Zanussi", then they have been branded "For IKEA by Whirlpool". Today they are either Electrolux or Whirlpool, but just branded Ikea

US Renlig

Just FYI, in the US "Renlig" is the name they rebadge Whirlpool dishwashers.

I would love a 90c washer option at Ikea!  Did the washer you saw have a name badge on it?  Don't see one on the website.  You can't actually wash the clothes with Ikea in the U.S., only organize your laundry day.   Over here, there is a whole line of Ikea appliances, at a couple of budget levels, they use Nutid and Renlig on dishwashers, those and more in other categories.  I think the first of the U.S. appliance offerings was all Renlig (?) and it surprised me to see many more offerings now.

Nutid and Renlig

Aren't these strange names?! To me, they just don't sound right!

(maybe it's because my first language is French?)

The Swedish word for "fast" or "Speedy" is "Fart"

Personally, I'd love to see washing machines being sold at the Ikea with a Fart cycle. :-)

Google translates the swedish word renlig as cleanly.

you would think that they would produce a "torka" dryer to match

I'm always there, very nice machines, did you look in the Bargain corner? Last time I went with my uncle, he ended up buying the integrated RENLIG IWM60 for £149 in the Bargain Corner because it had no cabinet fittings, but seen as he had these, it was a brilliant bargain as it should have ben £400!

Maybe we could meet up there some time, theres Currys and Comet too!
