I'm loving my D's. However, I've been forbidden to take them apart. (Some people just can't forgive and forget!). Anyway, since the blower and drum are driven by the same motor, how does the dryer "reverse" tumble but not suck air the wrong way?

I'm sorry that I haven't been curious enough yet to answer this question. But if I find out, I'll be sure to let you know. :-)

I'm going to guess that the fan does reverse but there's a movable vane built into the fan housing that redirects the air accordingly.

Or, if not that, then the reverse-tumble is done with a solenoid that temporarily stops the motor (for maybe a second or two) and drops a reversing gear into the geartrain between the motor and the drum drive pulley.

With a squirrel cage blower, the air really only moves in one direction into the blower because of centrifigal force, but can be exhausted from two different places, depending on the direction of rotation. So with Designgeek, there is probably a baffle that shifts to help with the exhaust.
