I heard Kenmore is putting the Swirl back in some models. Is this true?

What CEO told you this?
With the new belt drive washers this will not work properly because of the long slow strokes and non braking inner basket.
But it would be nice if it is true!

Don't know if this is true or not, but there is no reason why a version couldn't be designed to fit in the new machines.

The DD agitators already fit on an agitator shaft that is just like the original belt-drive's shaft, only shorter. The mounting splines are either identical or nearly so.

The DD's agitators have been engineered to fit into the VMW washer, however I always thought that those agitators were designed for short-stroke agitation, and a more belt-drive like agitator might be more effective in the VMW with its much longer strokes. So, very possibly, a belt-drive like agitator could very well be on the way for the agitator'd VMWs.

The common Roto-Swirl is probably too short for the VMW, but one could certainly be modified. The old super-tall Roto-Swirl used briefly in the late 1960s to 1973 in large capacity Kenmores might fit the VMW nicely, geometry-wise. The ramp would make an interesting wash action in a VMW.

i do not know maybe this will be a limited edition or special edition model to celebrate the kenmore aniversary model because in order to have this type of agitator they would need to fully redesing there top load washer to have this kind of agitator fit and they would need to go back to an older desing for the controls as i doubt they would work its if whirlpool decided to create an aniversary limited edition or special edition model with the classic tub and surgilator agitator as a aniversary model witch i highly doubt. But one can dream can they

Whirlpool

That is a Whirlpool agitator. Does Sears have any relationship left with Whirlpool?
