Awhile back I posted that I was looking to put a stove in the basement as a backup unit, but plans have changed since then. While I was on my quest I looked at this beauty. It's about as showroom fresh as it gets. If you want a good solid classic gas range, this is for you. It just shines! Everything on it works as it should, and I believe the deepwell burner can be raised up so you can have 4 regular burners. If you've been looking for a Maytag Dutch Oven range, don't let this baby get away. CLICK HERE TO GO TO polkanut's LINK on Wausau Craigslist |

The seller has gone over absolutely every inch of it. It was brought to WI from PA about 20 years ago by the 2nd owners who decided after hauling it all that way to put it in storage until about a year ago when they sold it.
Hans, you & Donald would be more than welcome to crash @ my house. Merrill is only about 17 miles north of Wausau. |

I'm sure many people have these Maytag Dutch Oven ranges and love everything about them, but poor Maytag had a great many complaints and lawsuits because of them. Both women and men didn't appreciate having all the hair on their arms singed off. Standing pilot burners don't always light right away due to a variety of things like being dirty. Long-sleeved clothing like robes often caught fire. While attractive, the burner control placement proved to be a real safety hazzard.
I've never seen an instruction manual for one of these stoves but I'm sure it tells you to remove the well cooker before lighting the burner beneath...but who reads instructions? If the pot were left in place and the burner did not light right away you had a mini-explosion, although perhaps not all that dangerous. If the pilot on the left side went out then you might finally get ignition after the gas reached the right side pilot. I'm sure that was more dramatic since your beef stew was now on it's way to Venus. |
