A friend is looking to buy a new (non-HE) TL washer to replace his mothers WP that will now only spin.
What brands are out there aside from Whirpool and all the of their rebadged WP variants? I must be having a brain-fart because I just can't think if anything. Well OK there is GE, but after the last (crap) generation with the plastic tub, I won't go there.
Also before anyone yells "Speed Queen", it's just not within their budget.
They are looking for something in the MOL range. What are the new belt drive WP's called?
Thanks! Kevin |

from what i can tell unless you went to buy a refurbish second hand washer models made around the 1950 to 1990 most washers sold today are eather front load he washers he topload washers or washers that have a low fill rinse water level but if you went a non he top load and stay in the whirlpool brand there this model or the inglis brand pic will be posted in second reply

Hey Kevin ,,, Gordon posted this little sweet Crosley washer should be in the 399.00 or 400.00 something range. He said that it will fill in both wash & Rinse cycles. CLICK HERE TO GO TO aldspinboy's LINK |

I would get a WP product in a heartbeat, these machines are working very well, are reasonably priced and are easy to repair [ if they ever break ] and will probably prove to be even more durable than the WP DD washers were. I would skip the GE-HP TL washers they are just not durable in the long run [ or even short run, in the last month or so we scrapped at least 4 that were not even 4 years old and replaced them with SQ TL washers ] and they are IMPOSSIBLE to due major repairs on after just a few years as corrosion sets in on the basket mounting nut. |

What is the point of them on both taps? Are they trying to make fill times longer, to push people onto FL machines, or do the green people want "more precise" water levels? |

If you cannot afford a new one, you really want to get an older pre-owned model without the new Department of Energy mandated ATC that dumbs down the hot water temp to barely warm to get that energy star rating...best bet is Craigslist as people are just tossing them away for pennies on the dollar.
Speed Queen makes a traditional top load full-fill washer don't they? |

i think i would test your friend whirlpool 's old washer as the all spin may be timer related i would suggest first to disable the safty lid switch if its the model where the agitation do not start until the lid is close set the washer to cycle other than normal like perm press or gentle wtach if the washer do the following things fills to selected level, wash (agitation) drain and spin for the first spin then fills rinse drain and final spin if the washer do this on another cycle then that means that the all spin problem is timer related and i also think that maybe posting a video of the problem would help pin point the problem if the washer is possible to repair.
