Looks in reasonable order and the price is not bad either all things considered. I doubt his claim that it was never used because it was not plumbed in. Ahh the innocence of "non-believers"......

I just tried to report the 9539 ad. to Ebay but there is no provision for reporting inaccurate descriptions. I get annoyed with certain sellers who put in classified ads for villas in Spain. In the ad. they put the price as £10,000 but when you read the text it is actually 250,000 Euros or more. I have no idea why they do this, as their ad. will be ignored by people or automatic search engines looking for a 250,000 Euro villa!

Yellow & White Hotpoint's

candyd10_14x's profile picture
Does anyone know what the "Letter" was for Yellow hotpoint 95s? (E.G. a 9524 in Almond would be 9524A, in white and brown it'd be 9524W and polar white would be 9524P), was yellow and white simply 95XXW? Or 95XXY?

(see Reply# 13) 9533.

Thanks, and I'm glad to be back on AW.Org!!!!!!!

Brandon.

Yellow and white?

There were no "yellow" and white machines; they all started out as Polar White (e.g. 95xxP) but the plastic trims aged terribly, as is so often the case with white plastics. They only tended to stay white for 2-3 years. I think the later high-gloss white plastics fared better, as shown by that 9539 (although the kick strips still seem to yellow badly).

As Alex said there where never any yellow washers off the production line but many in the homes of the UK years later!!

Rob, wonder what would have happened if the Lady of the House smoked Consulate, green tinge perhaps!!

that explains it.

candyd10_14x's profile picture
Lol, my mistake, I always thought Hotpoint made yellow 95 series washers, looks a nice colour though.
It's good to know though that these vintage and classic machines end up in good hands of a washer collector! Hopefully I'll be able to get a 95 series hotpoint one day, I'm looking for a 95452 or 95622/95620. and Maybe a few Indesit Square doors.

This reminds me..

...of something I was told in an appliance shop I used to do some work for. One day they had a customer asking for a felt ring for his tumble dryer. Nothing too unusual about that you might think, until he showed them the "old felt ring" he had brought with him. It was not part of the machine at all but a perfect ring of lint he must have removed from the actual felt ring that supports the front of the drum.

Good luck on getting the 9525, I think it'll be the oldest Hotpoint u'll have if u get it as it 1st appeared in 1990, the 1st 2 have the flush door and that style of drum, the tumble dryer range were the last 2 have the back filter location. :)
