Yes, models for the EU market are mostly made in Italy, even under AEG brand

funny

someone posted at thread recently that was about thinking that Electrolux is killing Zanussi brand...when I saw this, I just said "yep, they're killin' it"

I actually can't believe that someone is even THOUGHT of making something similar to Hoover's free flights.
It was the world's biggest failure EVER in terms of money loss and marketing, without competition!
People are learning about that scandal in Economy/Marketing school all over the world! My cousin from London (who barely knows anything about white goods and brands, nearly never uses them) knows the scandal, as he learned it in school/college.

I repeat, THE BIGGEST marketing failure of ALL that existed EVER no matter what industry, year or whatever, and on the list of losses, by far the FIRST PLACE (I think more than 15million dollars than second on the list).
Not to mention some other record that it broke, and still keeps... for example BBC watchdog's episode was never more watched, and never got more reports (over 3000).

And now, no matter it's 17 years later, someone else makes something that even looks like that... no comment

Beware of the Zanussi Fiasco then!

They might as well make some of the Zanussi appliances in Italy for the EU market but most Italians hardly know the brand Zanussi! I can already imagine the dialogue between a potential winner and some of the local folks:

TICKET WINNER: you know... thanks to Zanussi, I'm here in your country!
LOCAL: oh... that's nice! Well, I must say... they come up with all kind of funny names nowadays holiday makers! Ciao!

Maybe is just a matter of pronunciation anyway... they can fob the Italians off just by pronouncing 'Zanussi' something like 'Rex' or 'Zoppas'... easier still: 'Electrolux' ;-)

Anyway... beside the joke, I don't see this as being anything like what happened to Hoover... as this offer stands for a limited period only.

Haxis fan, Zanussi is a very well know name over here even if they don't sell Zanussi branded appliances!
Here in Bologna there even is a Zanussi professional store! As there are in many other cities. And in the restauration world is quite well known!

That's it... you said it... they don't sell them and I might add they don't advertise them either. In my comment above I was referring to Joe public rather than to the few scattered centres in major Italian cities.

I'll tell a lie, I've actually seen an online store selling Zanussi washing machines in Italy... this is from San Marino... and they deliver to you door ;-)

Hi Haxisfan,

I saw this on the Applianceonline website when I was researching the Jetsystem models as a friend of ours wants to purchase the Zanussi we have currently which I just want to get rid of asap. I like the features (& jetsystem) on the ZWH7122J machine and noticed it had the Free Flights offer on Applianceonline but this doesn't seem to be offered with the same machine in John Lewis and their website.
