Hi all. I have some updates. Firstly, School has finally completed the kitchen and brought a washer dryer, a Tricity Bendix WDR1030! It is super quick at drying but wash times are pretty long. Also, I am selling the Indesit IS60V to my food technology teacher. And when it gets taken to them I will remove the old dryer. I happen to know what it is, a Bosch WTA2000! It had a new motor and not long after the heater broke. She then got a condenser dryer witch broke recently. They kept the old one but never actually got round to fixing it. So I am selling the indesit to them and will keep the Bosch for a little while. Really depends on my satisfaction with it. But it is made by Croslee so after owning a White Knight should be pretty good :)Here are a few photos of schools washer to keep you amused. Chris

Drawer front with the programs on. Cottons 60 takes 2 hours and 15 mins.

Drying dial and options. The dryer is super fast. I put a large load of aprons to dry for 40 mins on low heat and they were dry as a bone!

And finally the drum. 4.5 KG for washing, 2.2 KG for drying. But I don't think people actually go by the manual! The drum is below. That is all from me. Chris. (the link is to my channel where there are a few videos of the machine.)

good washer dryer there, I bet u're looking forward to ur new acquisitions, I wish I could have space 4 a small selection of machines but sadly I don't have that :(

on a similar note, the school I used 2 go 2 had Bendix and Zanussi machines and remember seeing them working whenever I got the chance lol. I look forward 2 more vids from u with the new machines :)

I think you are getting the better end of the deal with the Bosch dryer, even if it does need a repair! The only thing to watch for on those big Croslee ones, if you have to change the big circular heater at the back you have to make sure the new one does not sit too proud of the back panel or it will scrape on the drum.

Hi all!

Thanks for your replys. The washer is reconditioned and came from where the WM12 came from. Except they were not going to mend it.

Fido - I do agree! I really think it is my gain.

The dryer does now work :D and the test run will be up shortly.

That Tricity Bendix has had a replacement door. My Dad used to have one of those, but cottons 60 only took 1 hour 15 minutes on his.

@Aquacycle Do you say that because the door glass is at an angle? And the door looks different to the stock photo? I do agree, it really has. And besides, the cycle I timed, and also in the brochure it says Cottons 60* takes 2 hours and 15. But it is a really good washer.

I don't believe many people read the manuals these days. I saw one person cramming a full load of soiled whites/colours in an Hoover Vision and bugger me they used the Rapid 29'! And when it comes to transit brackets, the amount of youtube clips of machines jiggling around the kitchen is scary almost!

Not too dissimilar events happen at my college either. The two washers in the HE room are normally set to 40* Colourfast, but they just leave it at that. Disgusted was I so the dial on the Nextra creeped up to boilwash and nobody noticed! The cloths they use need it as well!

Hi again!

I will be taking the Indesit to school and saying a bye bye to it :( And I will be saying a hello to the Bosch WTA2000 and a wadge of cash. And I will be filming more of the Bendix next Monday :)

Hi Fido

8000? it was a typing error, i meant 800 but pressed the nought key an extra time. Unless you wanted a pic of the WM12?

Jet Engine lol

Yea, it is funny that when Jacob was down he said that there may be an Aquarius 8000 from Hotpoint, a future machine? Yea, although, if I hadn't made the mistake the n the WM12 would be a suitable machine for he name :)

Bosch WTA2000

The Indesit was put in the kitchen and the Bosch was placed on the trolley in the kitchen for the day. Then I wheeled the Bosch out and up the drive and to the car, got it home and put it in the shed. Now I was going to plug it in and see what it actully did but I tried to put the plug in the socket but it did not fit. I assessed the plug and one of the plastic bits that hold the pin in had melted :( So I will replace the lead this evening when I have got time. But anyway, here are some photos :)

Full Frontal. A few scuffs but that is not really much of a bother as ti should clean up nicely. Also the stickers are a real pain!

Don't forget to tell them about the plug as they almost certainly need a new socket where the Bosch was living.

Bosch WTA2000

Fido, Yep I will do when I see them on Monday.

I have dried a few sheets in it and they came out dry in 15 mins, but the back is rather warm. Is it supposed to get hot enough o you can't put your hand on the top left of the rear?

Thanks, Chris

Post# 629808 , Reply# 21   10/6/2012 at 10:44 (4,217 days old) by fido ()

They do get quite hot but check there is a good flow of air coming out of the vent hose. Like any dryer, it needs the air flow to stop the heater from getting too hot.

Bosch WTA2000

Fido : Thanks for that, there is quite a breeze coming out the tube when in use.

The machine is now above the WM64, Candy under the bench and the WT960G is going to be popped where this stood. Pics later :)

That is so strange that your school should have that Bosch dryer - mine had exactly the same one (alongside a Hoover Electron 1100). As far as I am aware, these were made by Crosslee and not actually a Bosch machine.

Hi Aquacycle. School do not actually own the dryer, it is mine. And yes, it is made by Crosslee PLC. I wish my school had an Electron 1100! would be mote fun than this but I do like it! I will be filming it next Monday now, forgot the camera :(

My primary school had a Hoover Logic 1300 & a White Knight dryer in the food tech rooom and a Creda Supaspeed in the kitchen. My secondary school had 2 food tech rooms - one had an Electron 1100 and the Bosch WTA2000, the other had a Zanussi Quick & Clean and the Electron dryer to match the washer in the other room. We also had a Maytag toploader and AEG dryer in the PE department.

Made by crosslee...

Those dryers where designed exclusively for Philips (or by Philips I don't know...) in the late 1980ties Philips sold off it's major appliances division to Whirlpool, who had already a design comming form the Bauknecht designers. The plans where sold too Crosslee who build those dryers for several companies, only changing facia or ever just the badge. When bosch changed the design of the dryer they had a gap in the BOL dryer section, they filled temperary with a machine they bought and rebadged. They did that serveral times (there is a Bosch timed dryer designed by Bauknecht aswell). Even earlier they had a rebadged model that was sold by Siemens, Bosch, but also by Blomberg and even Olympia (last one only in Belgium). We had a rebadged Olympia for 19 years.

The Food tech room in my high school had a 1400spin Whirlpool washing machine and a Bosch WTA2000 tumble dryer as above. In the PE department they had 2 huge tumble dryers like launderette ones, a top load washer made of steel and a pedal operated spin dryer. (They all looked pretty old.)

askomiele, it is not uncommon in the UK to see a dryer made by Crosslee under a variety of names, the most popular of which are White Knight, Philips, Zanussi and Carlton. I believe the Philips branded dryers were the first. The interal design has remained pretty much unchanged since the late 1970's and they remain one of the UK's only domestic products to still be made here.

As far as Bauknecht-made-Whirlpool dryers go, I don't think I've ever seen one of those here. Whirlpool seem to be a slightly odd company. In the early 90's, the Whirlpool Aqualine was a very popular, relatively high performing and reliable machine - I know of a few of these still in use. However, the Philips-Whirlpool washer/dryer than ran alongside it was Merloni made and an attrotious, complete waste of a machine, so I'm not entirely sure who actually made and owned what names.

All the Whirlpool dryers I have seen were all branded Philips-Whirlpool and made by Crosslee.

Yes, they also did a gas version of the Crosslee, the only domestic gas dryers I've seen.

My new beauty

My new Hoover SE220. Dates from 1999 and cost me £10 off Gumtree. It needs a new seal as the current one is very mouldy! The only fault is that the power button needs pushing in to get it to work. It's not plumbed in yet, just in the hall in situ for the moment. Does anyone know how to get it to work without it needing pushing in all the time? Thanks in advance...

What a beauty!Congratulations mate, glad you have it and not me. I think that the front is welded on to the front of the machine, but hopefully you can work around that. Can't wait to see it in its glory when I see you soon!

Wow! Odd coinvidence as im saving for a hoover dynamic to replace that dodgy hottie (hv6l105p)

Anyway, you could try putting a strip of tape that has a cork on it infront of the power button and it should stay in, well, it works for the servis easidryer lol
