just been told about a new range of haier washers released, only on their own website so far but i must say they look a huge improvement over the predecessors, 5 year warranties as standard!, completely new design which makes the machine look like a high quality, expensive machine, and finally (my favorite part) induction motors!! see for yourself!

Well having just read the owners manual, they do have a few things in their favour that some others could take a lesson from....

- They appear to be programmable to a certain degree, which adds amazing flexibility.
- You can choose up to 8 rinses
- You can alter the wash-time of the cycle
- You can choose intensive or not
- They have 20, 50, 70, 80 degree temperature options. I personally miss the 50c option on my old Blomberg.

However, the most important thing they are doing is offering a 5 year warranty. That in itself is a strong indication of their commitment to the product.

Never forget that you underestimate the Chinese at your peril. If it's good enough for Miele to have a factory in China and export from it, then don't think for a minute that the Chinese aren't capable of building their own products that are good quality but at a reasonable price.

This one on the link is what my school have - except there's is branded BUSH which is a Home Retail Group brand - as it came from Argos. It also doesn't have the silver accents.

My ex had a HAUS branded Haier washing machine. It wasn't actually a bad washer in terms of performance. It had a decent wash action with power-stream distribution tumbles on the cottons cycle and deep rinses.

However, it was notoriously unreliable. It would frequently get stuck at various points in the wash and would have to be stopped and started again. I remember putting the machine on once and letting it run - it did about 7 rinses until we had to stop the machine and run a seperate final spin. If we hadn't, it would have just kept rinsing over and over again. It also had times when it randomly decide not to start, stop mid-cycle or skip parts of the cycle. I remember it doing a final spin whilst still full of wash water.

The door was pretty solid, but the controls and detergent dispenser were flimsey as hell. The detergent drawer was also incredibly shallow and would overflow if too much detergent was put in it.

Eventually, it was replaced with a Beko, which was much better.

It seems Haier have a bit of faith in their new line up. Hopefully, some of the earlier problems will have been ironed out and these machines will have the decent wash results of the older machines but considerable more reliability. Fingers crossed, eh?

They feature...

...this terrible weight sensor, which I have on my Candy 7even. Very bad. I wonder if the door is made from plastics 'cause it looks like that.

Is Haier the brand that washes with water at the bottom of the door glass?? Like the old 95series Hotpoints? My school had one of these, does distribution washes, and intakes quite a bit of water. I suppose the new ones with magnetic motor would do the same?
It looks like it will last, otherwise they wouldn't give a 5 year guarantee.
I like the ability to select up to 8 rinses.
It could potentially be Samsung made??

The wash cycle choice is a bit lacking though.

Well,my Haier twin tub may now be housed in the garage, but we used it for at least 5 years and it never missed a beat, unlike the heap of junk Bosch front loader which was it's predecessor, with it's total life span of 3 years and that was with just moderate household use as well.
In fact I wouldn't buy anything from Bosch again even if you paid me to take it.

yes but bosch in australia may be different to the uk bosch perhaps? as the bosch we know and love lasts without breakdowns for much longer than that.

...

They are the same products but there is the Thai built range and the german range. The Thai built starts at about $600 and tops at about $1400. There are two German made models for $1500 and $2200 respectively.

The cheaper bosch units have a reputation for washing well and generally good performance but not for long term reliability.
