Hi Guys!
New member to the board here, although I have "lurked" off and on for a while.
I had a little story I was going to share, but not everything has fallen into place just yet (as it should have). So the story can wait.
In the meantime, I really need some help.
I went to look at the Vintage Avocado Green Maytag twin tub washer & dryer that PhilR posted on here a few weeks ago. Thanks BTW way for that Phil!!!
Well, it's really beat up on the top-no big deal but not in 'mint' condition that's for sure.
The inside of the tub and spin basket are in good shape though.
But underneath.....WOW!!! It's in excellent condtion!
It doesn't seem to have had a lot of use.
The spin & pump belt is in great shape and the hoses aren't stiff or brittle at all. And it spins and pumps water just fine.
The problem?
The wash motor belt is broken. It's brittle and just snapped clean in half.
And I cannot get the belts anywhere. Does anyone have any suggestions of an alternate belt that may work? Or anyone have a spare for sale?
I can't see this machine going to waste in this condition.
The dryer was another story, but not sure if I want it yet.
Although the matched set would be nice to own..............?!

On another note, I'm supposed to pick up another one in white tomorrow as well as a Hoover twin tub in Mustard yellow.
The Hoover is the most AMAZING model of Hoover twin tub I have ever seen!
It has a feature I've not seen before on one.
Pic attatched and I hope I didn't ramble on too much Guys.
But you are all such awesome People and so wonderful to each other-and I would like to share my experiences with my new 'twinnies" with you as soon as I can get them all up and running.
Enjoy!!!!!

another AW member, Yogitunes, also has a (Maytag?)TT. I believe you can do a search for the thread on 'Othane' cord, am trying to put the link into my reply for you. Good luck!

This may work for you as a link...scan all the way down....

If you can't locate it let me know and I will purchase some more and send it to you....

Teddy/MrMaytag was also using black cording, which is really super as well.....

on the Hoover, I found that a regular drive belt from a Maytag TLer worked as well...suprised me that it fit.....just some ideas

MacBoy91si/Tim has great knowledge of these twin tubs, he's a great help

let us know how you make out

Many thanks Yogitunes.....

for that great information!
I'll check around for that although I may have to wait on that machine for now.
Another machine has come up-it never rains but pours-and we just got over Sandy here. Anyway...........
I had hoped to wait until next month to get this one, but it's gone by Saturday if I don't go tomorrow for it.
A barely used, well working Simplicity, (Speed Queen/Servis) Twin Tub is available.
Avocado Green as well and $175.00 is the asking price.
Here's a pic.
Thanks again!
