has anyone noticed how the washing machines in coronation street are all either zanussis or hotpoint ultima wm72's? ive other than that seen 1 indesit in silver (2005ish) when tracy and charlie lived in number 6, recently (last week) saw a hotpoint ic WM63 with a grey/brown fascia and have seen a bosch WFK2301 or something above the shop.

Gail Platt is still on with her 90's Jetsystem, Kirsty and Tyrone have a more modern Zanussi, Sally has a Tricity Bendix washer dryer, Ashley and Maxine used to have a Servis Millenium and Fiz has a Whirlpool Sixth Sense. Can't think of anymore at the moment.

Not Coronation Street

But last I checked (don't watch it anymore) that microprofile is still knocking around on Hollyoaks, been there since it started I think!

....well then they're not all Zanussi's or WM72's, are they?

I've actually never spotted a Hotpoint on Corrie, apart from back in t'day when the Rovers had a 9526

ahh

yes gails washing machine has been there a long time! only ever seen/ heard it once a few years ago when david brought a girl home and she was using it.. not tina, before that. yeah im guessing kirsty and tyrone have a FJS1225 or something, and when kev and sally lived in number 13 they had a zanussi aquacycle 1000 with 2 dials. Yeah tina has that awful whirlpool, which replaced an ariston margherita, remember the scene that that broke in when chesney was having a look at it. now stored in that back store room where the back door is. ashley and maxine used to have the matching dryer remember.
The rovers now have a zanussi like mine, along with the flat right next to the builders yard.
and i would assume that naturally you would just realise that i meant.. "most"
george.

Washers of Coronation street...

Sally Webster has a Tricity Bendix washer dryer, Fiz Stape has a Whirlpool washing machine, Eileen has a Bosch washing machine (an old one, not a Maxx model). Jasons flat has a silver indesit washing machine.

The Hotpoint Ultima WM72 has appeared in Audrey Roberts house and the Windasses house (their current house and the house they lived in before they came to the street when David and Graeme were hassling them for payment for a kitchen).

The two dial Zanussi (Looks like a FX1465) first appeared in Sally Websters house next to the corner shop, also appeared in Tyrones house and more recently in the Windasses home (Eddie Windass was using it about a year ago, so the WM72 has left their house).

The silver Hotpoint WD61 washer dryer is currently in Tommy and Tinas flat (builders flat) but previously appeared in Devs flat away from the street.

Finally the Zanussi Jetsystem (FJS1397 lookalike) has previously appeared in the builders flat, Ken and Deirdres house (Tracy was using it) and has been seen in the background of the Rovers Return.

I remember the harvest gold Maytag at the knicker factory. Love Coronation Street.

actually in tyrones house it was the zanussi FJS when julie went insane and put her knickers in it. there was also a bosch WFK look alike in the flat above the corner shop.

Number 13

Wasn't Hilda Ogden the first resident to have an automatic washer back in the 1970's? I remember Stan having a bright idea about taking in people's washing to make money but expecting Hilda to actually do the work! There was some line spoken by Elsie Tanner about Hilda washing everything that wasn't nailed down and at one point trying to "put the three piece suite in it". I have no idea what it was - probably an old English Electric. Anyone remember that?

Not Coronation Street but...

Sitcom My Family had a Zanussi FL with a dark fascia from 2000 to around 2008/9ish when it was replaced by a Haier! They also had a Hotpoint 7820 which became a cheap silver dishwasher that looked like a Kenwood.

@hoovermatic

I found a clip which features the Ogdens' washing machine on Youtube, Stan tried to charge people for having their washing done, Hilda refused to do it, but did it anyway, then went out and Stan ended up washing the entire load again despite it being clean and ironed!

Appliances of EastEnders

I think I'll do a post on the appliances of EastEnders...

Of course we have the launderette which has seldom been seen due to Dot taking a break.

Kat and Alfie still have their Hoover SIX washing machine in the Queen Vic.

Max and Tanya have their built in Hotpoint washing machine, and HAD an Indesit D63 dishwasher, which has now been replaced by a cupboard.

Kim's Palace had a two dial silver Beko washing machine before the fire last year. Their kitchen now has white Beko appliances (fridge cooker and dishwasher).

Ians house and Janines house have built in dishwashers, make unknown. In the past I've seen Jane use the one at Ians and Phil using the one at Janines when it was owned by Roxy.

There was also a White Beko washing machine in the boxing gym's changing room (I saw it during the episode when Tyler gets beat up)

Phils current house has a Hotpoint First Edition.

I'm going to post a clip from Eastenders 1996, which I thought is hilarious, when Phil hides bottles of vodka in the dishwasher (a Indesit D4000 in what is now Max's house). I just love how he pulls out the rack and the filter and takes out several small bottles of vodka.

No clue, but a I can recall they changed at around the same time.

Heres the old set up with the Zanussi & Hotpoint! If I recall in this episode Susan used Ecover!

And

BBC sitcom 2point4children has had its fair share! First an Ignis, then an Ariston, then a Zanussi Nexus.

Their friend Rona had a Hoover Electronic 1100, then a Hotpoint 95, which turned into a Hotpoint dryer! The final machine was a Servis Quartz, a later style one.

Hilda Ogden's Washer

vacbear58's profile picture
I bet that would get a few of us going if one cropped up on ebay as I think its an English Electric semi automatic washer from the mid 1960s - its definatly a EE, you can tell by the porthole. Hilda bought it from Reenee Bradshaw (the shopkeeper) who decided to get a new one - unfortunatly I dont remember that one, if it was seen at all

thanks for all that info! really helpful!:P:)

does anybody watch waterloo road?
in the old school they had a hoover vision set stacked in the kitchen, and they had a hoover nextra with a chrome door and a hotpoint condenser next to each other.

in tom clarksons house in england there was a hotpoint WF***, a terrible Hotpoint FDW dishwasher and a white knight dryer.

In sambuka kellys house there was a servis, like marthalover4ever's, a really bad one from 2008ish

in that mrs fisher headteachers house there was a hotpoint Wm63 intelligent care in the kitchen

in the current head teachers dads house there is a really old almond hotpoint 95 with a chrome door

and i think in that alcoholic english teachers house there was a beko with a centre dial before he set the kitchen on fire?

george

The cheap dishwasher in my family was a haier that matched the washer. On abfab they allways had zanussis, and in mrs browns boys they had an indesit which was identical to our old one, it was even missing the on off button like ours too lol.
And on gavin and stacey they had a crusader/creda/electra dryer and a hoover logic washer at gwens house which were then replaced by a silver cheapo beko and a graphite hotpoint ultima condenser dryer.

And i almost forgot, in stella, they have a miss matched 90s hotpoint set at stellas house and a candy grando at big al's house.

Going back a bit now but Annie Sugden (when it was Emmerdale Farm) had a Hotpoint Top Loader, which featured in almost every kitchen scene as it was right by the kitchen table and I think that Ronnie Corbett's 'Mother' in Sorry! also had a Hotpoint Top Loader!

Indesit L5

Paul, you're right and I was wrong - she did have an L5. After she left and Jack (I think that was his name, the miserable son she had), he lived in the farmhouse and he had a Hotpoint TL
