That's a plastic tub. Maybe they meant stainless steel trim on the black instrument panel?
I'd pass on it. Doesn't look like anything special to me, and I'd be surprised if RCA and GE merged momentarily to produce it any way. On the KD-12, it looks nice on the outside but I wonder why they didn't include an interior shot. $1000 is way overpriced. Maybe $100 would be a deal. |

There were both.
However I would lean toward most were Gravity Drains because back in the 50's this would have been a Brand New Installation. So to add a dishwasher in someone's kitchen I'm sure most people did what was necessary. Most of the KA 10-12 that I've seen have all been gravity drains. The KD2-P I have was the first ever pump drain I ever knew about. I was always amazed how quiet the 10-12 series were. Just to hear the water spraying around and then the clunk of the drain and the water gurgling down the drain. The thing that impressed me the most was the built in overflow on the gravity drains. Now there was total reassurance your kitchen could not flood from a stuck fill valve. |

Nate and Bob...
That GE is an interesting machine. Do you suppose because its portable that it was made in a bit different configuration? My first dishwasher was a GE 2200, it was a cheap version of the 2800. It was new in August 1986. It was a similar to a 1200 but without the cup rack features wise, and a standard silverware basket. Probably other deletions too. Mine was a fairly early one, without the boxed trim around the controls. In 1987 they added the extra trim. I know my machine didn't have the center wash arm, or the green racks (they were standard 1980s light blue). Cool machine. I liked my 2200 and would have another.
