I have an old GE washing machine. I am trying to remove the agitator, but unlike ALL the post's I find it does not simply have a "bolt" to remove. It need some special tool. I bought a T60 Torx bolt..but it is to small..any suggestions?? what "tool" do I need.

Theres no tool needed for this agitator.......looks a little rusted there though....

some penetrating fluid, and even some hot water should help you get that thing unstuck.....some are real tough...

for the most part, it should pull right up and off....

Check the Super Searchalator for "Terrifying Turban of Death" and you'll find a post that describes in detail how to remove it.

Basically, you're going to need patience, a ton of boiling water and several old towels to wrap around that agitator spline on top. Liquid Wrench beforehand is a very good idea. You'll also need someone with a good back and good upper body strength. This isn't easy and what happens usually, is that the activator will slip off of the "spline" which will remain on the inner post.

Thank you!! I was hoping I didn't need something special to do this with. I will work on the tower of terror and resort to the " Might makes right" method :):)
