This POD had me thinking regarding the GE under counter dishwasher , why was this concept abandoned only to re-emerge as the Fisher Paykel dish drawer in the 1990's ?

Mick, this was nothing like what you obviously are imaginging comparing to a dishdrawer.  this was a machine taht the whole deep well rolled out like a drawer.  Similar design was found in Westinghouse dishwasher too.  Ge had this style until 1961 when they brought out their front loading dishwasher with the revolving spray arm.  These underocunter machines used an impeller to distribute the waer.  Pretty much similar to the GE Mobile Maids at the time too.

GE offered one last roll out dishwasher in 1962 along with their first dishwashers with the pull down doors. I have a 1962 GE employee catalog that shows it ....PAT COFFEY
