Not sure if this is Imperial Worthy.
I believe they are DD. I used a set like this quite some time ago. Never saw this Control Panel in Wood Grain and Black. Anyway, they look nice. Thought maybe someone would be interested. CLICK HERE TO GO TO toploader55's LINK on Boston Craigslist |

the top of the washer sure looks DD,but looks like there is a spec tag at LH bottom of washer-possibly the earliest DDs had that?-my oldest DD is an '84 with tag under lid. |

For 3 reasons.
1. I don't know of a DD KM that ever had the model/serial tag on the front left bottom of the cabinet. 2. I don't see the screws at the bottom of the control panel which were common in DD plastic tops. 3. This has the same size lid as my absolute BOL 1981 KM. A DD should have a larger lid. If I'm wrong Gordon please set me right. WK78 |

Yes, I too think this is a belt-drive. I do not believe there was ever an exact clone of this model in a direct drive, as there were some of the other models. As Eddie says, the dark control panel is the clincher for me on that, other than the size of the lid. The panel is a dark walnut brown according to the Sears catalogs, and they came out as 1982 models in 24" and in large capacity 29" models. These sold quite well during the early 1980s recession, though oddly the 29" version was considerably less expensive than the 24".
Austin put up videos on YouTube of his machine. He enjoyed swapping agitators on his, though these never came with a Roto-Swirl from the factory. The video is called "Baby Kenmo" if you're interested in watching. There was a very popular DD version of this machine, however its panel was in the more common for DD, Ivory with ebony insert. Later 1980s and 1990s models made extensive use of this dark console, once the black rubber knobs debuted. I don't know about the knob pointer though, I think those were just like the BDs for the first couple years until Whirlpool engineered the de-clutch timers and put the plastic sleeves with no pointer on the DD's timer skirt to prevent it being advanced during operation.
