Sorry for the delay....

then came October and the news that Gary would be releasing his machines, for new owners to take them on.
With the passing of my father in March this year, this machine had taken on a degree of emotional baggage as far as I was concerned as I had collected it for Gary with my dad.

Thankyou to Gary for allowing me to take ownership of this machine.

Over the last few months Gary had done a heavy overhaul on the machine, the threads for which can be found in the forum archives....

The machines were collected in October, with Al, Mathew, Mike and myself making room in our storage locations to squeeze these examples of Hoover's history into our collections.

Over 4 days, Mike drove from:

St.Helens to Cardiff
Cardiff to Saltash
Saltash to Cardiff
Cardiff to Crewe
Crewe to Derby
Derby to Crewe
&
Crewe to St. Helens

in a very BIG van dropping off and collecting machines en-route.

The four machines that I acquired were dropped off in Derby, to await a spring clean and a decision on where they would be based.

Back to the A3060

Th A3060 was subjected to an external clean over and thick layer of polish a couple of weekends ago.

Here are some photos of the machine as the clean and polish progressed.

The New Magics were introduced in February 1978, with his machine dating from September of that year...

'New Magic' together

One weakness of many a Hoover of the 1960's and 1970's was that the kickstrip tape wrap would slide off the bodyshell, as the machine heated up and softened the glue.
The tape kickstrip on the washer has now been trimmed, so that it doesnt scrape and tear on the floor, and a layer or electrical tape applied to protect the base.
Unfortunately the tape is black, but doesnt detract too much. Do they do brown electrical tape ?

Getting your machines back to pristine condition :) Mind you I am not sure I would polish the INSIDE of the cabinets as well as the outside :)

What do you use to clean them up? And what sort of polish did you use for the exterior - Pledge? Mr. Sheen? Or some sort of car polish?

I was fortunate enough to get two Keymatics, one of which is the 3062 shown in the brochure above, the other a 3023 about 10 years older. I am currently making arrangement to allow them to be used occasionally (as opposed to just being ornamental) but in the meantime both machines have done two washes without a drop of water leaking on the floor. Watch this space for updates :)

Al

Hello Al
now dont go overboard two washes in one month you will be wearing them out :-), I am glad they have both worked perfectly and not pissed on your floor, even better that you are going to install them in such a way as you can use them occasionally.

MIKE you did some miles mate, i hope you had plenty of Yorkies to keep you going (i never knew yorkshire folk played rugby) :-)

Paul
Well you have worked your own magic on these magic machines, it does seem a bit strange seeing them but nice aswell

Lee
As you you are inheriting one of them it will be nice to see how you get on with it

Thanks again lads

Hey lads, lovely to see both these machines in good shape. In fact these very machines takes me back to my primary school (which had a deaf unit). Both the washing machine & dryer was constantly on washing & drying those P.E kits lol. Always loved the smells & often sneaked in the Home Economics room to see them in action. I some how was always fascinated with the little orange lights. Thank you for uploading the pictures Paul. I am greatly fond of these machines, for the reasons above.

Cheers,
Hass.

Hi guys! Sorry for my absence, been very busy over the last months, will try to be on AW.org as much as I can!

Ages ago, I found this thread about a Hoover Logic washer, it was a Hoover Logic 1400 or 1440? But I think it was German made, it had 3 sliders as opposed to 1 or 2, it had the yellowed facia.

Does anyone know what the model number was? Probably was WA..... Not A3XXX as German Hoover washers have WA1000 WA1100 ETC.

Great to talk again and so glad to see a classic Hoover A3060 (one of my favourite Hoover washers around) in good hands.

Brandon.
