Hey gang, a new thread today as I'm causally interested on learning more about the "Hoover Computer Control" machines. I know little about them & I know some of you own these machines in your collection so would be nice to build a profile on it.
Thanks all, Hass. CLICK HERE TO GO TO thelaundrylab's LINK |

Ace, do you get to use it often or is it stored away? Regarding the Oovah Ad, it's a pleasure. It's one of my favourites.
Whilst on the subject on adverts, if you guys seen the Computer Control advert for Ariel/Hoover, they also did a repeat of the same ad a year or two later Only this time they were showing the Hoover Logic. I've provided the link below encase you guys wanted to see it. Did Hoover always advertise with Persil Seamus? You've got me interested too now, why did Hoover swap with Ariel? If anyone can elabrate on this subject, would be great :) Cheers, Hass. CLICK HERE TO GO TO thelaundrylab's LINK |

Hello guys, please excuse me for any confusion for my latest post as I didn't want inidate you all by starting another thread seeing "Oovah" is still the subject. Anyhow, I mostly spent the whole weekend spening my time on AW.ORG going through the "Hoover" threads & came across this picture. A Hoover (Liberator)? Can anyone give us a little insight to this machine. Guessing Hoover went into competition around the same time as Hotpoint/Zanussi Liberators?
Plus if anyone can reply to the above questions would be great too... Thanks gang, Hass. |

Hi Matt, yes I have all three colours and yes this was the one that all the paint had peeled off the dispenser drawer, dont know what it was but you only needed to touch it and it came off, it had been sited next to a cooker so it could have been the heat / grease etc, it didnt look like a spray etc..Looked good without the paint as well!!

Not so much a Liberator, more of a Zanussi! It is easy to get confused though as more or less the same machine was badged by Hotpoint as a BOL model (1826?) in the mid to late 1970s. If you check back into (Matchbox)Paul's most excellent thread on the time line of the Hotpoint liberators models you will see it there. But it is still a Zanussi. Who knows why Hoover had to put this machine out into the German market, you would think they could have produced enough in South Wales. However Hoover did have a long association with Zanussi as the first Autojet and Superjet Dishwashers (with the rotating racks) and virtually all their fridges and freezers from the mid 1960s onward (when they first sold fridges etc) were also produced by Zanussi Al |

Al, thanks for clearing that up, (hehe) human error so sorry for the confusion. I didn't know Hoover had an long association with Zanussi during the 1960s. Yes I knew of Paul's fab Hotpoint thread he done earlier this year. Hence why I was surprised to see Hoover 480 Liberator...
Why did Hotpoint/Hoover/AEG commissioned the Zanussi models? And back to the main subject, Paul, Mike, thanks for sharing a couple of your pictures with us, always a privilege to see yours and everybody's else's collection. Loving the arty shot lol, The 1st Hoover Computer Control 1100 washing machine appears in the Persil Ad. (The link provided below). Thanks to everybody commenting, Hass. And Persil / Ariel, Hass if you look through your adds you can see the washer manufacturers courted mainly Persil and Unilever up until the introduction of Ariel in the early 1980`s.
Only when P & G collaborated with Servis during the manufacture of the new "Servis Quartz! with the "Multifabric Wash and introduced "Ariel" did things start to change, When I worked at Trident in the early 80`s and then Agri Electrics Phillips had many promotions with Persil and large bottle Radion liquid. |

Hi Paul - glad to hear another one has been saved, good product placement there, even got me guessing, Lol,
I never understood all the wiring in the Hotpoint and Hoover computerised machines, given Servis where using one flat ribbon cable between the control board and speed controller power block, I wonder if Servis had a patent on it? |

Hello Mike, thanks for that little insight. Though one slight confusion, did you mean the introduction of "Ariel Automatic"? Oh yes, I never spotted Servis were the first to collaborate, advertising "Ariel Automatic" as there choice of Detgergents. I can see how the battle began lol, Ariel vs Persil...
* Hotpoint/Bendix/Philips = Persil * Hoover/Zanussi/Servis/Indesit/Candy = Ariel Brief History for Ariel: Ariel first appeared on the UK market in 1967 and was the first detergent with stain-removing enzymes. It was a high-sudsing powder designed for twin-tub and top-loading washing machines. With the rise in popularity of automatic front-loading washing machines, a suitable low-suds variant was launched in the early 1970s. The mid-eighties saw the range expanding to encompass liquid detergent and compact powder - (Taken from Wikipedia). |

Supertwin,
I have a Hoover Logic Premier Washer Dryer A8576, another example of the "ever clicking logic with the silly wheel control" it's a great machine & technically it's a thumb dial. I've had the Logic Premier running properly since August 2011 (Purchased 31st March 2011, it arrived to me on 12th April 2011), great machine. The EcoLogics/Logics are better than the Electrons by a long way. The clicking sequence at the start of the programme's a unique feature that define these machines from any other make/model. I've a friend, who lives in Scotland, who's a Hoover/Servis fanatic, chanceskydiver, he recently got hold of a Hoover Ecologic A8582, he's willingly doing a swap deal with me, he's replacing the seized drum bearings on the Ecologic for me, then he'll give me the Ecologic A8582 (see link below), he'll get my Logic Premier A8576, (see pic). He agreed to do the swap because I prefer the Ecologic, as I grew up with an Ecologic A3954 & the matching Ecologic D6722, plus, the A8582 has the drum with the SensorSpray turquoise paddles.
