Well, the seller replied back. Here's his response:
"the value of parts that are no longer made are priceless to someone that has a running Thor in their original redone circa 1950s house. even if you went to a machine shop and asked them to make you a part from scratch, it would be nearly impossible to make the basket and the agitator unless you made a sand cast with an original and then went and poured metal from a foundry in that. NOS parts dont compare to machined in 2012 parts. I know from experience. the emails keep coming in as far away as Cali. I'll let you know who gets it and for how much...." Something tells me he's gotten a few e-mails from people that have basically told him it's worth a lot more than it is and he's expecting the moon. Guess I won't be getting the dishwasher attachment for my Thor this time! Ron |

I had a feeling when the ad read "make offer" that the seller had a fairly good idea of what he had. That's why I was thinking it might be someone from here.
Maybe he'll come down to earth. I'll never understand why people with more knowledge than a seller would offer up information that sends the price through the roof. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot and ruining it for everyone else. |
