When I plug in the Maytag, the agitator runs continuously. The control knob can't be pulled out or pushed in. We're trying to fix it ourselves, but we're not sure what part we need or where to buy it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

carljong

It's pretty simple

You'll have to look underneath and see what's locking up the agitator shifter. Pulled out it moves a cam that raises the clutch pinon and engages the center plate pinon to make the agitator move. Pushed in and it does the opposite and agitation stops. The shaft is hanging up on something. See if you can see what it is and let me know if you need more help. I have a PDF of a service manual. I'm just not sure how to compress it to make it email-able.
