Spin dryer

 Hi SearsKid.

I have been experimenting with some hand washing recently (using a washboard I got for Christmas, a small plunger w/holes drilled in it) and am using a cheap salad spinner to dry hand washables. I was googling spin dryers and I came upon that site a few days ago. It looks pretty neat and not terribly expensive. How smooth is the metal under the plastic lid? Have you found that it catches on fabric at all? Vibration issues? Wrinkling?

The spin dryer

Its incredibly smooth. It works great. But like any spin dryer you must pack the unit and put the spin disk on top. The basket quality is really good. i found it cheeper on amazon. Where I actually got them both. I use the panda for My GF's pantyhose and my hats and my dogs blanket (she has her own detergent that is ok for her skin) There are alot of compact or hand ran units that are on the market today. Look up the "wonder washer" that things is really neat. now back to the dryer. I have not many wrinkling problems (if packed right) It spins super fast (3500rpm) so you need to watch it as it takes off so it dont get stupid. Other then that its a really sweet unit worth every penny. (I use it on my towel's too out of my washer :P Spin them almost dry so my old Kenmore dont have to work hard :) ) Its based off a old Frigidaire design from Europe. (Its the identical looking as my aunts Frigidaire spin dryer just faster then it)

Its cool that it comes with the disk to put on top of the clothes. I remember as a kid the centrifugal units in the laundromats - you would have to put a sheet on top and tuck it in so clothes didnt get sucked in between the basket. Big steel thing that you loaded from the top.

LOL on watching it so it doesnt do anything stupid. I watched a few videos and you can see when it first starts how if its slightly unbalanced it wobbles. My one worry is how gentle a 3400rpm spin would be for some hand washables. Ive also read some people use commercial salad spinners to spin dry wash. I doubt I would use that for jeans or towels, but would fit more items than a salad spinner :)

Anyway, Ive bookmarked the spin dryer for future reference. Thanks for the info!

I also watched a few videos of the Panda. I dont mind doing some hand washing. Its usually just small stuff, like pantyhose or hand wash dresses and sweaters. Ive used the washboard to get stubborn dirt out of our white socks. The plunger works very similar to an agitator. I dont mind the "hard work". Good workout for the arms and I get a bit of pleasure seeing how clean the clothes get that way.
