Hi all, it's been a while since my last post.

So mom decided finally to buy a new washer
And dryer! She did her own research and fell
In love with the LG waveforce. We purchased
Them at home depot. We decided the non glass
Lid model was better and she wanted the steam
Dryer. The pair cost in total including protection plan
And tax 1908.23. We will receive them the 18th here's
Pics of the floor models.

Gas steam dryer

The washer appears to be model 4870, which is not included in a big recall of LG and and LG-made Kenmore washers. Consumer Reports gives most LG top-loading models the thumbs-up.

I use the steam feature on my dryer (a Frigidaire) quite often, and think it's worth the extra cost. What is the door on top of the dryer for?

Give us an update/review after the washer has been used for awhile, and congrats on your new purchase!

Someone on GardenWeb bought a new (non-recall) LG and returned it within days because of it banging during spin.

The door on the dryer's top is for the steam feeder (water tank).

I keep my fingers crossed for your LG. wd.info likes them, too:

they arrived

Ok so 2 loads done. Great point it uses water! Spins amazing clothes are real fresh. Does take longer butthe results are remarkable! However we did a small load of socks, kitchen towels and one bath towel. And much to our surprise it went of balance for 3 seconds it stopped and "UE" for unbalanced load. We re arranged it and it kept going when selecting "fabric softener" option cause we use it. I think it does 2 rinses. So far mom loves it and the dryer dries amazing.

That's a nice-looking laundry pair! Glad you're getting good results. Keep us posted as you do different types of loads. The steam dryer will come in very handy for getting wrinkles out and refreshing pants and shirts that haven't been worn enough to put in the laundry. Hopefully Jimmy will get used to the ring.

Why didn't Mom chose...

..the washer with the glass door? Does the dryer open from top to bottom?

Singing:

Is this one of those models that sing in a way that would potentially allow for an "America has got Talent" entry with each option selection?

Otherwise, I fairly nice looking set. Hopefully they'll serve you very well!

Mom actually preferred the non glass top. We ah e reservations on those glass lids. Additionally it has more cycles we wouldn't really use in all reality. It washes real good and just to clarify again this machine has sensor that will stop it if it goes off balance.it already did it with "UE". We arranged the items and it went about its business. I dont like that if I pause it mid cycle to check it will sense the load all over again and add more time. But it adjusts accordingly and it recirculates water a few times during the wash cycle. I did 2 loads following settings, Perm Press, heavy soil, coldpowerclean, extra rinse, fabric softener, all equals by total 1:22in total wash time but then readjusts. Clothes come out dry and fresh. Were using arm and hammer with oxi active he, and downy either spring blossom or April fresh.

Here's a load of light colored load at default water setting.

What you can't see

I have the glass top model. What you can't see with the metal top model is that it goes off balance and shows lower case "ue", it then refills with water, then tries to spin. If off balance again, it empties and refills again and again. It will do this several times and then show the capital "UE" and you have to manually re-adjust the load. Meanwhile, it has gone through several attempts at "re-balancing" and has used about 60 gallons of water.

I can barely get a load done with UE out of balance, even with equal size items placed carefully around the edge. Oh, also, you can't do bath mats (no items with waterproof coatings), can't do a small load (it goes off balance), and maybe you can do a large load or maybe not depending on if the machine deigns to work properly. I am kicking my LG to the curb and getting a speed queen. Google LG waveforce out of balance and read the horror stories.

Sorry to hear denverdog

Seems the LG is a love/hate relationship and you don't like yours.

That being said, a Speed Queen is just the ticket for you. Below is a vid of my machine in operation doing justice to a 100% cotton and 100% fleece blanket. As you can see, both are opposite ends of the weight spectrum but the SQ carried the freight and delivered a nice clean load.

Thanks for the link

I wanted to see the water put in while spinning before the final rinse and you caught that. Thanks. I would never be able to do two blankets in the LG. I don't do much laundry so I'm not worried about water usage and am not a resource wasting person. I don't even have a lawn. However, I want a machine that I can set and forget till it is done and the speed queen seems to be that machine. At least until I move and can then afford a miele or such.

Here it is carrying the freight
