I recently purchased an N2L Maytag Wringer (J327669P Aug 1958) with a black Bakelite agitator. The machine is in generally good condition except that the head of the agitator is knocked in (I have the pieces) and it won't come off the spline.
I want to know if the black version is rare enough to warrant extra care in getting it off the spline and repairing the damage. I am very concerned that the agitator would not stay on the spline and was first struck to wedge it in place, and when that failed, it was glued. I'm going to try to lift it using the puller suggested by Maytag, but I want a feeling on how aggressive I can get. This post was last edited 01/06/2013 at 22:29 |
