Hi I'm new here. We purchased a new samsung front loader after our kenmore elite died. After washing, when I move the tub by hand I hear a rubbing noise, it's not rubbing the boot. This morning I moved the tub again and the noise was gone. But when I started washing again the noise came back and even during wash, but only makes the noise when the tub starts turning slowly. Doesn't make the noise when the tub is moving fast or spinning. Seems to me it could be the bearing? It's like a wet rubber squeal.

In my old kenmore elite, when I would use vinegar In the wash I would get this same noise. Have not used vinegar or bleach in this new washer. What could it be. I'm puzzled!

Mindy

Hi there. I can't tell where on that video the sound is?

If the bearing were going bad, what other symptoms would there be. Could a bearing to bad in a two day old washer? Haven't used bleach or anything harsh.

Sounds like a wet rubber slippery sound. Like if you were to run the door boot when wet until it made a squeal.

it's probably just the tub bearing seal squealing a little-not really anything to worry about-my splendide front load washer did that a little when i first got it and i is still going strong some 9 yrs later.if you start to hear a rumble or roar in the next few months or years water has gotten in the bearings...

Hey. If I haven't washed in a few hours the noise is gone when I turn the tub by hand. But when I start washing the noise comes back. And sears only wants to send service to see what's going on. Taking apart a whole machine that's two days old! Smh.

Just don't wanna stress too much. Don't hear any odd noises yet. My luck!

What would he bearing be rubbing on to make that squeak?

I would call for service no joke I had this happen with a brand new GE made by samsung I no longer have it after GE would not pay to fix it I sent it to the land filed.

Mine had the same things yours is doing also if you keep using it the shocks can give out. Mine was fixed once but did the same thing a few days latter I am not joking call for service and make them check it record the sound because it might stop before they get there. But it well come back mine did. I got a video on youtube of the sound.

These are my videos please if it sounds like this get it fixed demand them to fix it and dont let them tell you it is normal it is not.

What was the fix. Or what did they repair?

It is not the boot but the bearings. I hated that machine wast of money and still made at ge for they way they handled it. Ge used or might still use samsung the first repair was shocks new tub. It worked for about 2 months and did it aging shocks tub boot was going to cost about 600.00 to fix because ge said they would not cover it. I was even charged a serivce fee but took that to court.

The sound goes away when in use becuse of the heat from the motor but let it set and it comes back. Mine did it also in the first week I got mine at ajmadsion so return was no go. If you can return it please do so and get anything but ge samsung

Wow yea mines not that loud yet, or that long. But it does squeak. It doesnt sqeuak though if it hasnt been used for a while. This sucks big time. And I hate sears. I don't want a repair if its going to be like this.

Also watch it if your using it it may not be spinning at full speed or might even try to spin at full speed when it should not. If they say a item is stuck inside the other tub dont let them get away with it. You can check that yourself. I made them prive they were wrong on that part.

Take top off unit. Using flashlight hold it on other tub and spin drum you can see the main tub spin and look for anything stuck but there wont be.

The repair job first time took about 4 weeks because samsung did not have the parts for it in the usa at that time. ugh they should take it to the shop and fix it. Because they have to total take it apart.

If you can should be able to return it for another brand you can tell samsung built units by the looks of the front panel. I would go for anything but samsung or a few ge made by samsung.

My aunt also has a samsung steam washer it did the same thing also but here locked up. I think samsung is using a bad set of parts or there are a few units that are not up to snuff. My aunt was lucky they gave her a refund and she got a speed queen.

To add I did not overload it or give it heck.

If I can replace it. What modern washing machine brand is halfway decent or reliable? A top load he or front load? Bearings in the top loads go to, but not as fast?

Speed Queen

The consensus here seems to be that Speed Queen toploaders and frontloaders are some of the best made washers available these days.
