About 20 minutes ago I got an e-mail at work from a vendor of mine who was helping a friend clean out an old barn over the weekend, and they came across a "brown" dryer, which he said was a GE from the seventies. Then a pic was attached.

I saw it and said to myself "If that's a GE it is the oddest model I've ever seen. It looks more like a Westinghouse" Maybe in this case the term "Rustinghouse" is more appropriate?

Later additional pics proved it was indeed a Westinghouse.

The guy wanted to offer it to me before they toss it, so apparently our previous conversations of my washer hobby have sunk in with him. Gotta love it when people actually listen!

Anyway, this dryer looks like nothing more than a potential parts donor, and even that is questionable, but I'd be glad to arrange to rescue it for anyone interested. Just e-mail me, preferrably through the site. If nothing else, its a cool story....

Have a good week everyone!

Gordon

A couple more pics

The guy was smart enough to take a picture of the model tag --- I didn't even have to ask.

A three temperature dryer

I think where this one is going, its eventually going to be only one temperature, REALLY HOT (as in at the smelter).

I thought this may not be so bad, until I saw the back. Shame, barn finds are supposed to be pristine (at least in fantasy).

1965. Westinghouse went crazy with that tan/beige color. We had the FL washer in white. They were so nicely planned, too. The washer door was hinged on the left and the dryer door was hinged on the right. I have a 30" range from 65 with the same colors in the control panel.

Gordon,
I think the condition of any 'barn find' is probably dependent on just exactly where in the barn the item was kept.

That timer/knob looks VERY GE-ish!

A matching dryer to go with the washer on the earlier thread that looked like it went thru WW3!Those poor barn finds!Wonder what critters are living in that dryer?
