Early Kenmore DW

Cool find Chris, there are several of these overbuilt DWs around, Sears sold them with either the Kenmore or Homart names on them, not sure which came first, mine has the Homart name on it. To bad someone installed the kitchen faucet through the lid, but that can be undone, I think these are all early 1950s machines.

Use the searchalator and enter early Homart Dishwashers. There is at least one thread. Don't expect much in the way of cleaning. There is a video here or on YouTube under similar search terms. If the impeller in your find is damaged at all it will hugely impair the cleaning ability. There are links to all of our discussions under the link to Mike's video.

Kewl find Chris!

If you can't find a drain valve original I bet you can rig up a newer valve onto the line and drive it with the old leads.

Keep pics coming that is one nice looking machine!

Wow, Chris, that is a great find! I love that style of dishwasher with the round inner tub. It looks like you have all the racks too, which is not always the case with these. But OY! The faucet.... You never know, though, an intact lid may turn up somewhere!

I'd guess early 50s as well. Mike (dishwashercrazy) has the Homart version of one of these in an Electric Sink (he probably has the Kenmore one, too! LOL)
Congratulations on your new toy and keep us posted with the developments!

Very nice Chris. With your determination I know you'll have these minor problems fixed. Take some more pics of the inside so we can see deep down! Looks like fun.

Early Kenmore DW

Chris I believe the cap that holds the impeller in place is the same as an agitator cap for a WP-KM BD washer. I know I was very curious about the fact that this part seemed to be the same even though WP had nothing to do with building this DW.

Are the chrome racks on your machine brass, SS or chromed steel?.

the racks must be chromed steel they are on the dull side and a little pitty but for the most part great.
