Haven't seen one of these for ages. One on Mother Dear's Whirlpool was chrome and glass.

Looks like a 1970s version. After the chrome and glass, they went to the plastic that was somewhat translucent, and then this. My friend's mom's 1975 large capacity Whirlpool had one like it.

Mom's 1975 WP had this filter. Very effective in lint removal.

Well Yes, It Beats The Bed Of Nails Filter That Followed

For filtering lint but you want to try and clean that brush.

I used a small tooth comb as picking the lint and gunk out of that filter ranked high on my childhood "yuck" scale.

lint filter cleaning

I have the original silver/chrome/clean window model, I use a painters wire brush and it cleans up easily when still wet, then I smack the brush on the bottom of the laundry tub and let the next load of drain water wash it away. No problem.
