Keith, Since you're close, they're probably worth it. Most others have to figure in shipping. |

They are definitely worth the $350. They look mint and you will not find a good matched set in Turquoise, especially close by anymore.
I have this same set in white. The round timer indicator dials light up on both. Washer is model WCD-65 and dryer is DCD-65. Gee, I hope it doesn't turn into a bidding war. Best of luck. |

$500 is the price of a lower-end laptop that will be obsolete in three years. These are dream machines - and I'm not a Frigidaire guy.
I would gladly pay $500 for a pair of Maytag 906s in restorable shape - and I don't exactly have money to burn. Yeah, if I could get 'em cheaper, that'd be nice. But some of this stuff doesn't grow on trees. |

With appliances, it's often the price of shipping that kills deals... The price of appliances is also an issue to some of us (including myself). I think another issue for many of us is the lack of storage space (that also includes myself!)... Once the basement and/or the garage are full, it really becomes an issue! Then when you find something you like better than what you already have, you might need to give stuff away to make space for the new stuff! Sometimes, it's even hard to get rid of nice appliances that you give away (that's if you care that it goes into the hands of someone who'll take care of it, not to a scrapper!).

Sent a message asking about prior ownership, condition, whether operable and the like. Also made an offer, sort of. Please, no bidding wars. I'll share custody. Keith |

Curious; noticed the smaller knob under the large dial on both these machines and today's POD. Was the larger dial simply an indicator and the smaller one was actually the one to be turned to set the time, cycle, etc? And what was the small silver button beside the large dial? Always thought that in the pics I've seen of this vintage Frig. washers and dryers it looked a bit strange to have a knob below the "dash panel". Most years seemed to have rather clean, fairly symmetrical designs, so this vintage looks a bit off kilter to me. Still very nice machines; bet they performed well, and probably were dependable too.
Thanks! Duane |

Yes,they were sold. Heard from the seller. I agree, always a bridesmaid, never a bride. And I offered full price. |

Moral of the story is to stop wasting time chatting about machines here and get right to making a deal. |

I am sure that is exactly what the buyer of these machines did. They got down to business!
From the surface picture we could see, these machines look to be in great shape. Of course who knows if there are any problems lurking inside but this style of machine is not impossible to get running again. Parts can be found when you look hard enough although sometimes expensive. I hope whoever got them will share pictures and stories once they have them. Assuming they were bought by someone in this group. |

Thank you for the update. Your kitchen cabinets sound great. What color did you powder coat them? Would love to see some pictures. Maybe you should start a thread on your kitchen.
As for me I did quite a bit of work over the summer with maintenance on some of my appliances. Mostly replacing belts and a pump gasket and putting a new tub seal into a 1-18, as well as fixing a noisy rollermatic transmission. Tonight just finished rewiring an old antique half gas / half electric chandelier. I converted the 3 top gas lights to electric as well so now it looks pretty good. As soon as it warms up a little I will resume work on appliance projects in the garage. Looking forward to spring! Patrick |

Thanks, Pat and Phil(?) for answering my questions. Phil, looks like you have QUITE a Frig. collection; including those space age 1957's!
We still have the green 1954 30" Frig. range in our basement, prob orig. to our house. When they remodeled the kitchen, the previous owners put it down there next to the washer and dryer to use for canning and entertaining. It was replaced by a 1969 40" TOL Frig. range. When one oven, then the other went out, I increasingly used the the 1954. We replaced the 1969 with a rather generic new 40" Frig. which prob. weighs 1/2 what the 1969 did, much thinner metal. Bringing up the old stove was not an option, as when Greg redid the kitchen, he built around the 40" range. Hindsight being 20/20, now wish I'd looked harder for parts for the 1969, or looked for a cool vintage 50's or 60's 40" range. Perhaps a Flair or old GE is in our future! Again, thanks for your responses! Duane |

The opening of the dryer looks mint. Plus the fact that they kept the owners manual and it too looks to be in great condition are all good signs that these machines were well taken care of and probably had light use.
Gee, I might have to take a drive south one of these days for a viewing! Congrats again Marty! |
