I would definitely look at the fill valve issue before giving this machine up. Fill valves are not really that specific to most dishwashers other than in how they mount. Off the top of my head I can't remember if the KD-16 used a timed or metered fill but there are ways of working around the timed fill issue if you get a valve that lets in more water than it should.
There is also a chance that the problem could be in the timer but I think that is relatively unlikely. Timer contacts rarely burn on the low current items such as the water valve. If you don't want to tackle this, I may be interested in taking it off your hands and could pick it up tonight or tomorrow. |

Bad fill valve Bad or clogged over-fill pressure switch or machine is actually trying to fill but something is caught in the drain valve holding it open so the water is going directly down as fast as it comes into the DW, [ very common problem for any KA DW KD-15-20.
While this problem may be able to be fixed without too much trouble, I cannot fault you if you want to give up on this great DW, at over 40 years of age it WILL NOT LAST FOREVER and unless you want a constant project I would just get a new KA DW, With the food disposer. |
