Picked up a Visimatic recently in good shape. While I have experience with the Maytag wringer operation, don't have any with Visimatics. Problem: The wringer does not seem to "lock" into a stationary position like the Maytags do when the wringer control lever is in center, forward, or reverse position. Is there something I'm not familiar with, or not doing correctly, or does it sound like something is broken? Tried lifting the wringer head off and re-installing it - still no stationary positioning. Haven't even plugged it in yet, as I know from experience, on the Maytag wringer if motor is activated while wringer is not in a stationary position, the wringer will go in circles uncontrollably. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

Hello John

mickeyd's profile picture
Just snapped this pic a few weeks ago. Happy to put it to good use. My left hand is on the Wringer Position Lever. Yours is probably stuck in the open position. Right is open and left is closed. You know what to do. There is great reading and full instructions for all 4 Kemore Wringers in the Ephemeral Book entitled, "Owner's Manual for your new WRINGER WASHER'." Well worth downloading now.

By the way, you can plug your Visi in; she won't fire up till you turn the dial to HOLD or for a selected number of minutes.

Please show us pix of your new girl, and congratulations. If there are no Lady K Visimatics in Heaven, I'm not going. LOL

Thanks

Much appreciation. Yours looks exactly like the one I just bought. Will try the indicated lever. Thought I tried moving it but nothing happened, but will check again when I get home. Great input, will check into the referenced download.
John

It's probably stuck. Just move it hard left. Let me know, and DON'T FORGET THE PIX ;'D

Nice washers !

I remember when I was a teen when my Mom bought a new visi-matic to replace her old and worn out Speed Queen with blue trim. I remember that it had a round lint filter that sat inside the lid that you put the hose end into while washing. It now sounds like it may have been a pain to do this each time you removed or replaced the lid to get at the clothes. Maybe not. I also remember that it had a pull up lever to operate the agitator and the pump, one on either side of the timer. I say pull up for a lack of a better term. Anyhow she used it for years until she got her first automatic. I was amazed as a kid how neat it was to have an open wringer at the top. I wish I had an old blue trimmed Speed Queen and a visi-matic like she had. Happy wringering to you both !

Jim
