Hello! I've not been on here before so hope I'm posting this in the right place.

I don't know if this is of interest to anyone but we have a 1980s Hotpoint tumble dryer to give away - a Reversomatic Dryer De-luxe + Creasecare in almond. It was left in the house we're currently living in and seems in good condition. It worked the one time we used it (about 2 years ago) and I believe was used regularly by the previous owner. Cosmetically some of the plastic trim down the sides and on the corner of the lid is a bit broken and the door release is sticky. It is clean and seems to have been well looked after though.

We've rarely used a dryer in the past, preferring to hang washing up, but with a very young baby that's becoming impractical. Given its age and the length of time it has sat unused I don't want to press this one back into service without an overhaul to check that it isn't clogged up and nothing inside has deteriorated over that time. I don't have the time or know-how to do that myself and rather than pay someone else to do it we've decided to put the money towards replacing it. If anyone on here does know how to overhaul it (or knows better than me and feels it is safe to use without) you're welcome to have it. I wouldn't mind a hand moving the washing machine slightly when it is collected :)

Chris

Hi Chris

I would be very interested in talking this machine off your hands, I have been looking for an older, full size reversing dryer for a long time now, so I'd be hapy to drive to Sheffield for it!

Are you able to post any pictures of the dryer?

Thanks,

Matt

Hi Matt,

I'm happy to hear you're interested :) I'll try and get some pictures online tomorrow evening.

Thank you, Chris

Thanks for taking the time and trouble to find us and letting one of us have the chance to 'rescue' an older machine, rather than just putting it out for the 'scrapmen' to collect (sadly, a fate which is overtaking too many older machines now). It is VERY much appreciated....

Thanks again

Dave T

Pic 1 - apologies for the state the floor is in, the garage is quite dry but that hasn't stopped the floor paint from peeling I think because there's no damp proof membrane in the floor. There's no evidence of water damage to the sides of the machine (I didn't notice rust along the bottom edge) but I perhaps should check under the machine that it's not been damaged by damp. Unfortunately it is a bit inaccessible just at the moment.

Pic 4 - should have given it a clean, the door is a bit dusty (a bit of sawdust from doing DIY in the same room - the machine wasn't on at the time or since so none should have found its way inside)

Hi Dave T - thanks for the comment :) I'm averse to throwing stuff out if it still appears to have some life left in it. I forget how I found this site (I think I stumbled across it looking for a review or something) but for the sake of a few minutes posting here it would be good to see it go to a new home if it appeals to anyone. I've tended to put things on Freecycle in the past, however we're basically getting rid of the machine as we've no way of knowing if it is safe or not (I suspect it is but I'm a bit paranoid about such things) and I assume the people on here are more likely to know whether it is or not than most Freecyclers.

Thanks Chris!

Definitely interested, exactly what I'm looking for!

I have sent you an email at the address on your profile.

Cheers

Matt
