Following on from my previous thread where the owner was not willing to sell his machine...i finally found one sitting in a garage dormant for the last 15 years! (Wanted ads in the Saturday Paper have worked!) It still works although has an electrical short somewhere...it keeps tripping the circuit breaker after filling and before agitation.

The owner has replaced the belts and solenoids and also repaired the outer bowl which had a couple of rust spots. I'm getting the machine for a grand total of $7.50 US....or $10.00 AU !!!! Not bad at all i think. It needs a good clean and a bit of a tidy up,but is in good condition. He's keeping it at his place till i get my own place this year where i can work on it. Just need to work out the electrical fault and we should be right to go!

Apologies for the pics....washer is sitting in a corner and it was hard to get really clear shots.

Leon

Nothing is sweeter than having a dream become reality. Are those two drain valves with the big black hoses attached? Is this because of a suds-saver system? I hope that you have a place to bring it into your life soon. What a great way to start a new year.
Tom

Hi Leon, congrats! How wonderful you found another. Does the washer trip the break when it tries to agitate and spin or just agitate?

What a great find

And a real bargain in today's market price wise.
It looks like it will clean up quite nicely.I must get me a solid tub machine.
Hope you get your new space shortly.

Hey, nice! The panel is either Hotpoint-like, Norge-like, or Wizard-like. That filter attachment reminds me of Wizard or maybe Hotpoint.

Thanks Guys,

Yes...i'm very happy at the moment. Perseverance does pay off!

TOM: Yes...the 2 valves are attached by a hose for a suds saver system, its going to be fascinating to see how a suds saver works on a solid tub machine.

ROBERT: The machine trips as SOON as it wants to click over to agitation. Not sure about the spin...the owner said he didn't go that far. Any thoughts?

Cheers
Leon

When you get the machine home Leon, manually put the timer dial into spin. Does it trip the breaker, if not the problem is in the agitate solenoid or suds valves. If so the problem is somewhere along the motor line.

Beautiful find! I'd love to see more pics of the mechanical works - the base frame/stand is very similar to our Speed Queen machines.
