Just because it has a center dial doesn't make it a Maytag!

You can't blame them for getting confused Andy, because it has been so dependable they thought it was a the mythical Maytag.

Maybe, but the confusion will quickly end when it comes time to do a belt change...

I cant tell what it is other than a washer. The pix is so dark you guys must be real good to tell it is a Kenmore or whatever. My mother had a center dial Kenmore washer and dryer bought in the 70's but this one could or could not look like hers. I just wished people could take decent pictures when trying to sell their stuff. First rule, have the light behind you facing on what you are shooting.

Read the description - says it was never hooked up, but also "works fine". Could be unused until now?

Thanks for helping with the pic. Now I can see it's a direct drive. So much for the changing belts idea...

Andy -

The pictured machine is not a direct drive. The shorter/shallower lid is the clincher in that pic. The 1976-1980 graphics would be the second hint.

The machine is actually a 1976 model (the Knit-Delicate in one box on the control panel is the give-away on that).

Cool washer!

I thought I saw screws in the console where the direct drive would have them. So, my first gut instinct was right. Hmmm...

Good catch Andy. You do see the two screws, but that applies to the plastic consoles only - all the metal console models, 1974-1986 or so had them.
