There has been a surfacing of Wringers with interesting agitators turning up. This is what catches my eye most of the time. If I could, I'd grab these in a heart beat! Check out this MW (another Apex), looks very similar to the agitator that is in my Wardway Standard.

And take a look at this Easy and it's agitator! Love the green on this tub! Wringer rollers look to be in good shape.

It was kinda usual to find those kind of plates in agitators in machines of 20s and 30s...
What I assume, but that could be also not so, is that they were made to avoid clothing getting stuck in to the base and shaft, not having these machines a base plate in agitators....
Like for this Voss machine:

The first of MW machines is what I call Angel wings shaped agitator, I've seen some machines in europe with those agitators style too, but if you ask me to recall the brands I honestly don't remember....
I don't think these agitators would provide good washing action also....
But about interesting agitators and machines I've found many particular ones of Dutch machines:
Here is an antique Erres machine:

Anyway the only brands of which I recall the name for sure having angel wing agitator were Miele machines, both wringer and tub only types:

But they also came with a better and effective (IMO) agitator like this one:
