Robert, how do the two timers (wash time knob & main control knob) work together? And why the need for two separate knobs instead of putting the wash time on the maion knob, not enough room with a 20 minute wash? Just curious.
Les

Hi Les, the reason for this is GE wanted the machine to be totally automatic, including a pre-wash. So the user could set the dial to "Soak" and it would give the clothes a 3 minute agitated pre-wash and spin out the water and then go directly into wash. Since the wash time is already set by the extra knob and the machine has a detergent dispenser the user didn’t need to stand around and wait for the wash cycle to begin to reselect the proper wash time. This meant she could be upstairs listening to Love of Life or The Secret Storm on the radio and didn’t miss a bit of her stories.

That makes sense. Does the main timer control shut off and remain indicating "wash" until the wash time control reaches the end of the selected wash time then begin advancing again to "spin"? Just curious as to how the two timers coordinate with each other.
