Hi. I found this great forum while looking for parts for my KitchenAid KDS-57 dishwasher. I've determined that the fill valve is intermittently bad. Sometimes it works, sometimes it won't. If I tap it lightly, it will open to allow water to flow. The part number on the mounting bracket is 102183. It is a dual coil unit.

I've looked all over the internet but I can't find anything even close. Could someone tell me where I might be able to get this valve, or perhaps put me onto an acceptable equivalent replacement.

This is the same dishwasher that my mom got as a gift from her brother around 1972. She used it until she passed away, and then my wife and I inherited it. Can you imagine, it has been used steadily for over 40 years, and this is the first problem that we have seen with it. I'd like to keep it going for as long as I can. Any help in getting that part would be greatly appreciated. Vince

The newer water valve is a single coil design rather than the original dual coil one. Just tape up the 2 extra wire connections well with electricians tape.

Wow! I can't believe it was that easy. I spent the last week researching the web looking for that part. (As a result, however, I did end up with a service manual and a much better understanding of how this dishwasher works.)

I just placed the order on eBay. Thank you!
