Hi All. March is my lucky month! This month I have got my hands on a Creda 275 (4th), a Servis Quartz Multivent 262 (9th) and a Servis Electronic 3305 yesterday! I can't believe my luck! The Creda you've all seen, The Servis 262 a few have seen and the 3305, very few have seen! The 262 needs a fan belt (I need to order it) and the 3305 has a odd burning smell. I'll post a piccy of the 262 in the car and move onto the 3305 in a bit.

Cheers.

Chris.

Moving onto the 3305.

Okay. The machine was listed a spares or repairs on Gumtree. I decided to ring the guy up and ask if it was still available. It was so I thought 'Amazing!'. So yesterday I went off to get it. We arrived there and walking up to the flat, the guy said "It's up side down, because the open bottom wouldn't go on the trolley" I thought that the machine would be totally wrecked e.t.c . Whilst wheeling the upside down Servis to the lift, I did look in the bottom, to my relief the suspension hadn't fallen apart and everything was nice and clean. Whilst we were wheeling it down the corridor ready to the great outdoors where he car was, he said it was almost brand new. :/ . Oh dear, it's what, 34? That's my best bet. So this evening I decided to power it up and see what she does. First news is that she works. She will need a seal as the current one is moldy as ever at the top and perishing at the bottom. So it works a treat but there is a burning smell. Oh dear. I was thinking it was dust on the motor. Though it's a more powerful smell than that. I can't really describe it. Sorry!

If anyone has any ideas that would be wonderful.

I'll upload a picture now and more later on as I'm off out now.

Thanks and please comment!

Chris.

Congratulations!

Hi Chris and what a lovely machine! I'm sure the burning smell wont be a problem. Try checking the pump because it might be blocked and struggling which causes them to overheat, there is a reason why those old pumps have cooling fans! As for the motor, check the brushes and blow any dust out. I'm sure its nothing serious for if it was, the electrics would have tripped in your garage.

James.

Well done Chris on some superb finds. Initially I thought you'd got the dryer that was on eBay and gumtree recently but that one was a 261 and had a dial so not sure where that went but you've picked up a good one there

The 3305 looks in great condition too. Does the burning smell occur at any particular part of the cycle or all the time? Might need to sniff it out carefully with the covers off to see if its coming from a particular area. I did have a Hoover with this problem and it turned out to be the suppressor which was slowly failing. Is that the 9605 behind?

Take care
S

Congrats Chris,

To the Servis Club. I'm really jealous, my 1989 Sapphire 9635 sports a microhole drum, & my Mk600 sports a Chevron drum, in an ideal world the Sapphire'd have a chevron, and the Quartz'd have a SpinCare.

If you ever have to thin out, or the 3305 broke, beyond repair, I'd gladly take it off your hands, that'd extend to the Bosch WFS4030 too!

When you're on your travels, if you happen to see a Servis, sporting the SpinCare drum, let me know, or if you bought it, on my behalf, I'll happily pay you a succificent amount to make it worth your while, either way.

Good luck with your 3305 & I look forward to seeing more vids of it.

Below's my 9635, is it the AutoWasher or Washer Dryer you're looking for?

CJ

Congratulations on the new finds Chris.

A Creda 275 was my very first machine that I owned, being gifted to me when I was about 4 years old. It was my best friends grandparents and the heating element went in it.
It lived in my parents back room for a year or two, before being moved out to the shed. It survived until 1989, when it was replaced with my Grandma Rayner's 1974 vintage Hotpoint Liberator Dryer.
Neat little machines and dont worry about fascia slippage - pretty much every 275 you see has suffered it, as the fascia is only stuck onto the bodyshell and slips at the left hand side as the dryer heat softens the tack. The dial holds the right side of the fascia true, whilst the bigger TD400 dryers had the fascia held within a plastic panel.

The Quartz 262 Multivent - lovely dryer! Produced towards the end of the slimline bodyshell run, its matching washer was the model 6027. Great condition too.

The 3305 - the top photo of this machine had me thinking that you might have actually got a 3301. The flash of the photo and the colour of the lid, especially when compared to the white Hotpoint 96 behind it, makes the machine look almond to me.
Have never seen one of these do its business, so the wash videos will be intersting viewing when you get it sorted. Good that the ledge under the door doesnt look to be suffering rust at all, as that area of the bodyshell is a bit of a water trap. Obviously a very careful owner.

Shame that it was handed across to you upside down - who on earth does that? Did the seller think that that would do it any good. Anyways - looks like it has survived unscathed and you have yourself and very nice Servis.

Excellent stuff.
Paul

Hello.

@James/Sesetve

I'll take a look at it this weekend, it's really cold and wet outside and I can't be faffed at the moment.

@Optima

I don't think that I'll be wanting rid of this in a hurry!

@HooverZanMiele

Hi, I see you're liking the Spin Care drum! However I don't think I'm parting with it yet and promised the machine to a friend long before I owned it! Lol. Would you consider a swap for the Logic maybe?

@MatchboxPaul

I thought that that was why they suffered their fascia slippage. How comes it was given to you? I did pull the dial off when I was cleaning it, I sure noticed that it does support the fascia!

I can assure you the lid is a darker brown than above, but the machine is polar white.

I think it's picture time!Here are some pictures of the 3305. Enjoy!

The programme guide. Lots to choose from and why is the 2nd 95 programme right at the bottom when the other is at the top?

The option buttons. None of the white dots are rubbed off. The big chunk at the end has a little red light underneath.

With the lid off. The burning smell is coming from down the bottom of the machine.

I L.O.V.E this washer and don't regret the purchase. It's awesome! If I can get it working, it will sit where the WM64 is. I'll post pictures of the 262 in a second. Final image of the 3305 for now.

Programme 9 was introduced to deal with white cotton with special finishes that needed a gentle wash rythmn, cooldown and slow spin. It was on many machines at the time but was phased out after a short while.

Great machines there, congratulations.

Chris,

They could've made it longer, if, tey'd wanted to, by adding a bleach/stain remover/starch compartment to the other main compartments.

Personally, if it were me designing these servis machines, I'd've incorporated drum paddles that incorporated the detergent/softener dispensers, in the drum paddles, allowing extra space on the fascia for more LCD's or feature buttons, etc.

If you're interested, email me, & I'll email you some of my designs.
