It's a make offer auction also, if some people would start offering a fair value *maybe* they would realize it...
You know, I belive that's the classic istance when owners does not really know what they have and start high just to understand a real value and don't be fooled then.... From what I understand this ebay shop is run from a business offering service of sales and online sales of second hand VTG stuff...there're alot here...one I can think about is "mercatopoli" a second hand shop franchising... Other times indeed people are just to blockhead and silly to realize the amount they ask is simply "MAD" like in the case of that italian ebay seller to which I could not stop myself from writing if he maybe had a typo in the pricing for a BTH wringer washer asking $ 2320'00 (1800 euros)... He got offended, and said I was too ignorant not knowing anything of VTG, I just kindly replied him the history of the washer including what the achronym for BTH stand for and history and year of the machine, as long as the link of this website saying I'm a proud member of this community and simply linking the two BTH on sale in UK in that moment for £30 and £50 each, and saying that if I would have wanted and anyone who would have wanted to have them could have had them collected from courrier and shipped from there via priority for less of 1 third of the amount he was asking... He just shut up... Machine is still on sale! How could it be different?? LOL http://www.ebay.it/itm/ANTICA-LAVATRICE-... |

And they still didn't sell.
Dexter, Philco and others offered those behemoth "twin" wringer washer systems and yes one could plow through mountains of wash quickly. Once you got a routine down pat it was faster than even using modern Hoover type twin tubs, and probably much more quiet as well. That being said this particular seller is one sandwich short of a picnic basket on this one. Three hundred might be the scrap value (if that), but for a unit that has electrical problems, would require a new grouded cord/plug anyway to meet modern safety standards, and a host of other issues such as those cracked wringer rolls they should be paying someone to haul it away. Being as all this may it could make an interesting restoration project but shouldn't offer more than fifty USD. |
